Packers Are Now Formally Interested in Matt Forte

Matt Forte

Matt Forte

First there was speculation that the Green Bay Packers were interested. Then there was a report of Julius Peppers recruiting him. Now, the Green Bay Packers have formally expressed interest in Chicago Bears running back Matt Forte.

What does that mean?

Well, it means that you and I aren’t just pontificating about whether the Packers are interested in Forte. It means that someone in Green Bay who works for the Packers has actually reached out to someone in Forte’s camp and said, “Hey, we’re interested in your guy.”

Interest alone means nothing, of course.

I’m interested in Elle Macpherson.

Whether the Packers will present an actual offer that might sway Forte to join the team remains to be seen.

He can continue to be the career leader in total yards at Lambeau. He used to run for 200 every time he was in town.

Draft is pretty deep at DT. If you sign another position, it’s TE or a pass rusher. Although the Colts set a ridiculously stupid bar for tight ends with a 7 million annually deal for a guy that had like 150 yards last year. I mean, Richard Rodgers nearly equaled in production in one game last year. Forever hate the colts.

This is really surprising to me that the Packers would have interest in Forte.

Starks stats last year were similar to Forte’s. Both had 4.1 yards a carry, although Forte had more yards because he had more touches. Starks had 43 receptions for 392 yards, Forte had 44 receptions for 389 yards.

This would not be an upgrade from Starks.

Don’t get too excited about any free agent. In order for that to happen somebody would have wake Ted up and then try and pull his head out of his ass!
