If you’re of the mindset that the Packers have a huge need at inside linebacker, then this could be your guy. Freeman has actually been more productive than the top inside backer on the market, Danny Trevathan. He had 112 tackles, three sacks and an interception with the Colts in 2015. He’s also had seasons of 145 and 126 tackles in his career. The downside to Freeman is he’ll be 30 this year and he’s missed seven games over the past two seasons. It may be telling that the Colts aren’t looking to bring him back. The question is, would he be an upgrade over Sam Barrington?
And just as we hit the publish button, the Bears scooped up Freeman for a reasonable deal. Three years, $12 million with $6 million guaranteed.
