Some people seem to interpret this as a personal vendetta that we have against Aaron Rodgers. Well, those people are idiots. Aaron Rodgers had a bad season in 2015.
It wasn’t a bad season if he were, say, Ted Butthole, but it was bad season by his own standards. The most telling stats — career lows in completion percentage, yards per pass and rating.
More so, if you actually watched the guy play, you could see his accuracy wasn’t there. He missed a lot of throws and threw a lot of balls right out of bounds. At times, he didn’t even bother going through his progressions and at other times, he couldn’t even get the play off. So you could argue there was a fair amount of bad decision making involved too.
A week ago, it came to light that Rodgers had minor knee surgery when the season ended.
Well, of course the fanboys will point to that as the reason for his subpar season.
Did it play a role?
We have a hard time believing that, but really have no way of knowing. That being said, we came across these comments from Rodgers from back in November and found them mildly interesting.
It was mid-November and Rodgers popped up on the injury report. Before you get too carried away, the reason he was on the injury report was because of a shoulder injury, not a knee injury.
However, his attitude was basically, I’m going to play regardless.
“It’s not an excuse. It’s a source of pride. I think that’s the difference,” Rodgers said. “Some people use the injuries as an excuse. But I think for the guys in this locker room who are out there battling, it’s a source of pride.”
“My thing is no more important than anybody else’s injury. If I feel like I give us the best chance to win by being out there and dealing with whatever I’m dealing with throughout my career, I’m going to be out there.”
This isn’t to suggest Rodgers being on the field hurt the Packers in 2015.
Rodgers at 75 percent is still better than probably all but five QBs in the league.
However, it would seem to suggest he knew this was all coming down as it did. Give the guy credit for playing hurt — to whatever extent that happened.
We’re now left to wonder just how badly the knee bothered him.
He’s finished.
Right we should just put in hundly and push the reset button right douche bags
When you’re studying for your GED. Look up the word sarcasm, D Bag.
Aaron Rodgers plan and simple will be the best QB that has played the game u just wait and see he is blowing records every year… the year he plays as a normal human he gets thrown around as he sucks… hahaha well if he sucks then your not a fan anyways and know nothing about this team. We’re on the rise and u just wait after this season and the last we will get some talent and be in stoppage once again…
Also, when he doesn’t get hit upside the head 249 times in a season, he’s usually winning an MVP and/or schooling the rest of the NFL QB’s with #’s they’ve only dreamt of accomplishing.
I didn’t see any reason to not play him. Sure he was a little off but this guy isn’t cutler.
Can’t step into his throws anymore, everything comes off the back foot or has to be thrown on the run. That calf injury probably never healed.
Ted Butthole had a pretty decent season tho
This year more than any year you could see a Rodgers throw that missed a receiver and say that throw was off. Previous years most of time it would appear the receiver was not on the same page as Rodgers as to the route. With that out of the way, when a year is over it is natural for the later potion of the season to be what you remember the most.
There is no question Rodger was hurt in the game 9 with Detroit. He hurt his left foot at about the 12:00 min. Mark in the 2nd quarter, was hit low on the knee by Ansah ( cheap shot) with 40 sec. Left in the game. Not sure about the shoulder, however Rodger was sacked and hit hard on several other plays in that game. Not sure how any of those injuries affected Rodgers but if you take Rodgers stats from the first 8 games and compare them with the final 8 that include the Detroit game you get a slightly different view.
First 8 ( includes games against Seattle,Denver, Carolina, KC)
Completion % 65.67%, average yard pass 7.53, QB rating 106.46.
Last 8 games that start with the Detroit game with injuries
Completion % 57.34%, average yard pass 5.93, QB rating 80.55.
The first 8 games Rodger was close to his stats for his last MVP season, against some highly ranked Defenses. The last 8 games including that Detroit game were substantially off an MVP type season.
Something was bothering Rodgers in the last 8 games. I believe most, but not all was due to injury.
