Packers Have Underachieved Under Mike McCarthy

Mike McCarthy

So says Greg Bishop in the video below. Bishop makes the argument that the Green Bay Packers have underachieved with Mike McCarthy and Aaron Rodgers.

Around these parts, we tend to agree. In the big picture, the Packers should have more than one championship in the Aaron Rodgers era.

They don’t and that means they’re not meeting the standards. Not only our standards, but those they set for themselves.

It seems the only person who doesn’t believe that is Packers president Mark Murphy, who is happy just making the playoffs and keeping the bottom line healthy.

At any rate, while Bishop is basically bashing the Packers here, he also points out that they were only a few plays here and there from being a dynasty.

And that makes us feel so much better!

A few plays away from being a dynasty? Maybe a few plays away from going to one Super Bowl. But then again, you have to win multiple Super Bowl’s to be considered a dynasty. Like three of them, minimum.

Perhaps if TT would actually give McCarthy something other than UDFA to coach, or quit ignoring areas of need for YEARS at a time, the Packers could/would be a dynasty. As long as Murphy is there. he’ll let Thompson ride the coat tails of the SB 45 victory until he retires. Most likely when Rodgers is 39 and too old.

When you continue to take your foot off of the gas in playoff games after you get a lead, allow the DC to play “prevent Defense” at the end of those same games. Send in plays so late that QB1 has to call TO’s early in the second half. Run Lacy 3 times in a row into a “scrum” 85% of the time. Year in and year out, just to name few things. There may be a problem . . .

Yes. As I stated before, the packer organization is used to losing. That has been their identity sinnce 2011 – 2015. Nothing is going to change because the front office refuses to change how things are run. This team is destined to be the NFC North divisional champions the majority of the time…then get a beat down in the divisional round or lose in the wild card. Look no further than 2009, 2013 which were wildcard lost. And 2011, 2012,2015, which were divisional round lost. Plus they won the NFC North in 2011, 2012,2013, 2014 and probably win it in 2016.

I really thought this team was going to be a dynasty after 2010. They had all the weapons and the motivation to win at least 1 more super bowl. They had the best team in 2011 and 2014. This team is nothing but a disappointment and major underachievers. Rodgers IS NOT going to win a other Ring. Mark my words on that…He WILL win 1-2 more MVPs though.

MM can be a good X and O’s guy but he is weak on sorting out the good players from bad. He tends to stick to bad starters too long and stiffle development of higher potential young players. Thompson has not done well with drafting players with speed and athleticism and leaves MM with major weaknesses that can’t be fixed. TE, RB, ILB are 3 areas where we have glaring weakness in speed and athleticism for years and TT never addresses them. Always draft slow players or bring in even slower UDFA. Adams is another player that was drafted high but very slow. If we’re going to draft a second round WR, the guy has to run sub 4.5. This coming draft should be about speed, speed and more speed. I believe we have the slowest starting RB, TE and ILB in the whole league last year. Ryan was a little faster when they started him and CM3 should not have to be wrongly used as ILB any longer just cause he has the speed we need.
