Green Bay Packers right guard T.J. Lang will reportedly have shoulder surgery this offseason.
Lang’s shoulders have apparently been bothering him for some time, but not seriously enough for him to do anything about it. Lang said he decided to put off shoulder surgery during past offseasons because of the downtime, but doesn’t feel like he can do it any longer.
“I don’t want to look too far ahead, but I don’t want to be playing next year with more pain than what I have right now,” Lang said late in the season. “Obviously, that’s a business decision.”
Now the question becomes just how long is the downtime?
He suggested it could be six months, although that seems a bit long to us.
Even if it does take that long, Lang would be ready for training camp. He just may not be in great shape.
However, Lang is not one of the Packers offensive linemen we’re concerned about. He was solid in 2015, a season that may well have been his best to date.
