Look at that funny-looking little dude on the right side of the Ukiah Daily Journal there. Is that a young Steve Buscemi? Nope. It’s a young Aaron Rodgers.
Before he was a Hail-Mary-throwing, celebrity-dating quarterback of the Green Bay Packers, Aaron Rodgers was a weird-looking 9 year old what was good at shooting free throws. The title there says ‘Free throws are his forte.’
For the first time since the ’70s, the Ukiah Elks Lodge has a district winner in the lodge’s annual basketball Hoop Shoot contest.
Aaron Rodgers, representing Oak Manor school, swished through enough “free throws” on Dec. 5 to qualify for the next round of competition in Sacramento later this month.
If he survives that level he will go to Fresno for the state finals. Beyond that, he could go on to Las Vegas and to Indianapolis, Ind. for the national finals.
This ran on Sunday, January 3, 1993. It was just republished by Rodgers’ hometown Chico paper because, well, Aaron Rodgers!
