Ty Montgomery is Having Surgery

Ty Montgomery

Well, surprise, surprise… Green Bay Packers receiver Ty Montgomery will be having surgery on his injured ankle.

Montgomery was placed on injured reserve on Monday. He hadn’t played in a game since week 6 and two separate comeback attempts were aborted after he aggravated the injury in practice.

They’re saying the surgery isn’t a serious matter. The procedure will clean up some cartilage damage in Montgomery’s ankle.

Montgomery’s agent, Damarius Bilbo — yeah, that’s really his name, told ESPN his client’s sprained ankle has healed, but the cartilage damage was keeping him off the field.

So that explains that.

Montgomery’s rookie season showed promise, but is ultimately a loss.

He recorded 15 catches for 136 yards and two touchdowns in six games. He also averaged 31.1 yards on kick returns.

    Whatever this was it obviously wasn’t minor.

    Looked pretty serious from the get-go, didn’t it?

    Congratulations Packers medical staff, you’ve done it again..

      How is this the Packers medical staff’s fault? Do you have a degree in sports medicine? Have you ever evaulated someone with a high ankle sprain? Let’s just say they did misdiagnose him. How would it have changed anything? Montgomery goes on IR a month, give or take, sooner. How does that fix our offensive problems?

      But I guess you just gotta blame somebody, right? MM, TT, the medical staff, the water boy. Somebody screwed up and firing will fix everything.

        I never said it would fix any offensive problems. I’m pointing out that this medical staff is completely notorious for misdiagnosis. What would it have changed? Well Montgomery could have gotten surgery when he needed to and healed much sooner, rather than risking his health even further by attempting to play injured.

        There are numerous examples throughout the years as well. How about when the Browns signed one of our back up receivers and found out that he had a torn ACL when he got there? How the fuck does Green Bay miss that huh? Or how about when Greg Jennings was out with a groin injury, then later discovered it was actually an abdominal tear and needed surgery. Oh but that’s right, don’t dare point out the obvious because everyone will call you a blamer.

    @Shawn

    It sure did, even though it ultimately ended his season at least it still wasn’t a knee injury.
