Here’s Where Cam Newton is Better Than Aaron Rodgers

Cam Newton

Well, where is the in the NFL in the year 2015. Not many people would say that Cam Newton is a better quarterback than Aaron Rodgers. That is, until this year.

That conversation was going on today between Jason Whitlock and Colin Cowherd. And yes, Newton got the nod.

I don’t know for sure, but I’m not sure I would disagree at the moment.

What do you say?

Monty McMahon

Monty McMahon is one of the founders of Total Packers. He is probably the most famous graduate of UW-Oshkosh next to Jim Gantner.

Yes I agree that Cam is better than Rodgers, so is Brady. Cam and Brady perform well with any receivers,,, Rodgers seems to be falling apart?

  2. xlvordie December 2, 2015

Rodgers played lights out the past 5 years..hes had a slump so he must suck right? Get this shit out of here. Cam has had a better year I agree. So has Brady. Is cam a better QB to have on your team? To me that’s not even close. Cam also has greg olson.. brady has gronk. So to make it sound like they’re playing with scrubs is not accurate because those guys give a HUGE advantage in the passing game. I also never saw eddleman or amendola drop half the balls that Adams/Jones have this year.

  3. xlvordie December 2, 2015

God forbid rodgers isn’t the #1 QB in the league presently.
Why did favre get such a pass from all this criticism when he was getting out performed by other QB’s intermittently?

    1. Big Gay Clay December 2, 2015

To answer your question Lord Favre resurrected a terrible Green Bay franchise and led us to our first Superbowl in over 30 years. That’s why he got the pass.

      1. PF4L December 3, 2015

Yea Big Gay…..Lord Favre resurrected a terrible franchise……blah blah blah.

And here i thought it was Harlan and Ron Wolf. I guess behind the scene’s, Lord favre put together and coached the #1 defense in 1996.

Take a look at Lord Favre’s playoff record and stats after 1997. Have you ever done that? It’s terrible.

Favre didn’t get a pass from Packer fans. I’m talking about fans that knew know more than 4 players names on the team.

        1. Big Gay Clay December 3, 2015

Are you still bitter that he left us for the Vikings? I’m not. Favre was larger than life in the 90’s, he was like a super hero to those growing up in that time and he made it exciting to watch GB football again. The toughest man in the history of the NFL.
But yes without Wolf there is no Favre. Wolf wouldn’t be in the HOF without Favre though so I guess it would make you feel better if I said they both revived a terrible GB franchise?

        2. Deepsky December 3, 2015

#1 defense….AND #1 punt return guy in the history of the NFL (and eventual Super Bowl MVP).

          1. Big Gay Clay December 3, 2015

Yes it was a historical year for the team. Favre won MVP, led the league in TD passes (setting a GB record) and yardage and getting the All-Pro recognition. Why are you guys so hesitant to give Favre some of the credit? Did our defense score all of those points in the Super Bowl? What about the NFC Championship? What a magical year.

          2. Big Gay Clay December 3, 2015

He put up those stats without his #1 receiver, just saying.

    2. bob December 3, 2015

Also, Favre never set the bar anywhere near as high as Rodgers has. Not even within 49.5 feet of it. His bad games were expected because he always had them at every single point in his career. It’s uncharacteristic of Rodgers to play a bad game.

  4. Big Gay Clay December 2, 2015

It’s pretty comical that this is even a discussion. Cam has a way better defense that gives him more favorable opportunities. Plus his receivers have the speed to get open when he scrambles. He hasn’t won a Superbowl and his numbers aren’t even as good as Rodgers this season (and this is a down year for Rodgers).

    1. Cheese December 3, 2015

The Packers defense has given Rodgers plenty of opportunities as of late. Four interceptions and a fumble recovery from the D and your high powered offense can’t score more than 22 points?

      1. Big Gay Clay December 3, 2015

GB offense and high powered should not be used in the same sentence this year. We have no threat to go across the middle or deep. Cam has both.

  5. Harry Hood December 2, 2015

Trolling our own fans now, huh….

  6. xlvordie December 2, 2015

Your right he won A superbowl..one.

he had 20 years to accomplish that feat. So odds were statistically in his favor to so.

  7. CO Bob December 2, 2015

Agree with Harry…fan trolling going on here.
    Carolina hasn’t won anything yet.

  8. Andy Pants December 2, 2015

There are two quarterbacks here, QB1 and QB2. QB1 has the 8th best passer rating (97.4) in the league, and QB2 has the 19th best rating (89.5). QB1 has 24 TDs vs 4 INTs, while QB2 has 20 TDs vs 9 INTs. QB1 has 244 passing yards per game, and QB2 has 224 per game.

The stats don’t mean everything, but this is all being clouded by each QB’s relative play vs previous years, and by the fact that one of their teams is playing better, overall.

QB1 of course, is Rodgers, and QB2 is Newton. This is Rodgers’ floor, and this is Newton’s ceiling. Even at his career worst, Rodgers is better than Newton at his best.

    1. packerfan2008 December 2, 2015

    2. PF4L December 3, 2015

      Excellent points.

  9. Packerfan2008 December 2, 2015

I’ll take Rodgers any day of the week over that piece of crap, and I would take him over any other QB anyway. Even in one of his worst years he is better than that clown.

But you bandwagoners keep on at it, when you get bored the door is right over there.

  10. Richard December 2, 2015

Carolina’s offense is in the bottom 10 in the league. I’m not sure how people can be so duped into Carolina being the Cam show when he’s basically just Dilfering his way to the playoffs

  11. V December 2, 2015

Now close your eyes and imagine if Ted Thompson & MM got off their high horses and actually built us a Championship caliber roster via drafts + free agency…we’d be talking SB every year, not just winning a middle of the league division (which we may still lose).

    1. MMTTDCSUCK December 3, 2015

      Home Run! ^^^^^^^^

  12. ay hombre December 3, 2015

Wanna hear something funny? Carolina is like 3/1 to win the Super Bowl. Yeah…that’s going to happen.

  13. Achilles December 3, 2015

In a world of stupid and over reaction, this article ranks right up there.

  14. joe December 3, 2015

This is the stupidest article i ever read remember when kaepernick took his team to the superbowl we were reading the same thing about him

    1. MMTTDCSUCK December 3, 2015

While I do agree Joe that this is a silly article, C Kaepernick did take them to the SB, and C. Newton appears poised to do the same. This is NOT Rodgers fault, but as some have pointed out in a few earlier posts, TT’s and MM’s inability to “foster” good personnel through any means possible. Which has been sinfully obvious over the 10 year span of TT and the Buffoon. They have had many chances before the season, and at trading time. Or at times, just playing the better athlete which many times they fail to do. They just do not pull the strings needed to facilitate personnel changes and adjustments as other teams do when needed. Especially New England. And I do not like New England BTW . . .

  15. PF4L December 3, 2015

Kaepernick and Newton are a product of great defenses and running with the football.

The same thing that happened to RG3, Kaepernick, will happen to Newton. I will say that Newton is #1 in acting like a douche on the field. Ever see Newton in interviews, he acts as if he’s won a few superbowls and 5 mvp’s, when in fact, he hasn’t done a damn thing in the NFL besides run the football.

When Newton can take a team with the 32nd rated defense, and go 15 and 1, then come talk to me.

    1. MMTTDCSUCK December 3, 2015

I agree PF4L, I am just going with the current status of Newton vs the past with Kaepernick. Personally I think they both suck. If Rodgers is given the correct players, he wins multiple SB’s. TT has fallen way short of the mark regarding the needed personnel. And in my opinion will continue to do so ad infinitum . . .

    2. WINTER IS COMING December 3, 2015

  16. Achilles December 3, 2015

    I have a question.
Why were TT and MM not buffoons and idiots when we won the SB?
    Just askin’….

    1. MMTTDCSUCK December 3, 2015

Yes they were . . . They had different players then, from another GM. And Rodgers was a gift that TT was handed. If you recall, Buffoon made MANY, MANY bad game time decisions during that year as well. You have your smart ass posit to me, I have my opinion, just sayin’ . . .

    2. MMTTDCSUCK December 3, 2015

Also, I have been calling out both of them for years, hence why I get so much flack from people like you. I call it as I see it. Fuck being a homer. I love this team as much as anyone. But I have NEVER LIKED THIS “Triumvirate of Buffoonery” . Just sayin’ . . .

    3. Big Gay Clay December 3, 2015

MMTTDCSUCK has got it nailed. People forget that a lot of our 2010 roster consisted of players from previous GM. TT has had 2 great draft picks in his career but he hasn’t done anything for us in the last 5 years and lets be honest its a “what have you done for me lately” league. He drafts player with the same size, speed, ect. and doesn’t deviate from “his plan”. It doesn’t matter if he does hit on a draft pick though because our coaches would fuck it up anyways.

  17. Richard December 3, 2015

2010 was a product of many fortunate breaks. The right people getting injured (Desmond Bishop should’ve been starting already, which became clear), awful NFC playoff field, the Patriots somehow losing at foxboro to Rex Ryan and Sanchez, etc. If you want to give credit to TT and MM for Rodgers success, that’s fine. But they likely got very lucky on that gamble as well, or they wouldn’t have grabbed Brohm at the top of the 2nd round as an insurance policy. As we all know too well now, Ted will play his 1st and 2nd rounders no matter how poorly they perform. Those picks are like gold

  18. MMTTDCSUCK December 3, 2015

Thank you BGC and Richard! People seem to lose perspective or the memory of the details. This coaching staff/brain trust continue to muck things up, while playing favorites and riding A. Rodgers talent as far as it will take them. These guys are not the second coming. They are moderate at best, and we are finally seeing it. If they would play talent over draft position from now until the end of the season there may still be hope of a playoff berth, if not . . .

  19. MetsPackersRangers December 3, 2015

Exactly one of the reasons a Panthers fan got butthurt and deleted me off facebook. I told him the truth about Scam Newton and Showboat Rivera and he whined and bitched. Cam is a running QB that has benefited from a stout D and a strong run game. When that all runs out it will be much different. For all the bipolar insane shit this team has pulled this season. Arod12 anyday over Scam.
