Charles Woodson is Calling it a Career

Charles Woodson

Charles Woodson announced that his 18th NFL season will be his final NFL season, Monday.

Woodson made the announcement ahead of Thursday’s game, which with be the final home game of his career.

That game should have been in Green Bay, but that’s another story.

Woodson says he’s stepping away from the game because he’s just not interested in playing anymore.

“Honestly, I think physically I could do it — my body has responded. But mentally, it’s not there. It’s not gonna happen,” Woodson said.

He has 65 tackles and five picks this season.

And, oh yeah. He’s probably the baddest motherfucker to ever roam a secondary.

First ballot HOF. Congratulations on a great career.

    C Fucking Wood, brah. Legend.

So when does Ted get credit for that epic signing?

Glad he’s hanging it up before he gets decrepit. Hate to see guys hang on too long.

Ted has gotten a lot of credit for signing Woodson in 06, drafting Rodgers in 05, Mathews in 2009. But reality tells me it’s 2015 and were …..waiting.

        Yep! Amen!

Well that sucks. A part of football just died today.

    1. Fritz fm WI December 23, 2015

the football CW played actually died long before his career was over i.e. too many flag happy refs enforcing ticky tacky nfl rules against physical pass defence.

this is what hurts his chances of making the HOF because he refused to compromise his “old school” style of physical play, thus drawing too many flags throughout the last half of his careeer.

Thompson doesn’t get credit for signing him but he certainly gets credit for not re-signing him, if you know what I mean. That’s how it works here.

    But forget all that crap.

    Congrats, Woodson.

5 picks so far this season? That’s more than all our safeties combined, and two more than anyone on our roster. Maybe Wood is pulling a Favre and “retiring” so he can come back to Green Bay…. wishful thinking.

  7. PF4L December 21, 2015

Here’s what i know…Woodson’s best years were with the Packers.

Here’s what i don’t know…Does he go into Canton as a Packer, or Raider?

In any case, enjoy retirement, VERY well done.

    1. Savage57 December 22, 2015

I don’t know (or give shit) about the team deal, but I do know this:

He goes into Canton as a Well-Respected and a Wealthy.

  8. Snarff December 21, 2015

Would love to see C.Wood sign and retire a Packer.

  9. Tom Brown December 22, 2015

Football HOF does not induct members associated with a team.

  10. MMTTDCSUCK December 22, 2015

Simply one of the best football players of all time! One of my favorite packer players. Solid citizen who is very charitable as well! First ballot HOF member for certain! It would have been nice to see him retire as a Packer . . . but good ole’ TT the “Frugal GM” shit the bed on that one . . .

Excellent guy, outstanding player, a real class act, congrats Charles.

*sheds tear* thank for the memories big dog

Layin’ the Wood son. Dude was badass, i thought we were screwed when he came out in the superbowl, but our guys played for him, he set the tone for that defence, so he deserves all the praise that is coming his way.

  14. Phatgzus December 22, 2015

    @PF4L

As Tom said football players don’t get inducted by team, they represent all the teams they played for. I think the real question here is do the Packers induct him into their HoF, I’d be astounded and disgusted if they didn’t.

    1. PF4L December 22, 2015

Got it, i guess i just remember all the talk about Favre going in as a Viking or Packer.

I’m sure the Packers will, how could they not?

  15. Phatgzus December 22, 2015

I really see no way they couldn’t, he’ll be in the Raidahs! HoF for sure. Wonder if any player has ever been in 3 HoFs before.

I have a feeling the number 21 Packer’s jersey will be placed “out of circulation” soon if you now what I mean

    1. Fritz fm WI December 23, 2015

will the ring of honor section where Favre is be situated on the far side of the stadium from the traditional RoH where the pre-FA players are all located?

this would help next generations of fans understand how great you have to be to get in this separate section, where you are honored as a packer great even tho you didn’t finish career in GB.
