Green Bay Packers cornerback Sam Shields certainly sounds like he’s ready to play this week.
Shields returned to practice on Wednesday to test his injured shoulder and that test went better than even he anticipated.
“I feel pretty good today,” Shields said. “I did a lot of moving. Things I thought I wasn’t able to do, I was able to do it, going up and getting the ball and things like that. Everything felt good. But I’m still taking it one day at a time.”
Shields was injured early in the Packers loss to Denver and hadn’t practiced or played until Wednesday.
His real test will come today, when the Packers practice in pads.
If Shields plays this week, he may be forced to wear a brace on his shoulder. The brace is designed to prevent him from overextending and aggravating the injury, but shouldn’t deter him in any way.
Either way, the Packers could probably use him. Casey Hayward is in concussion protocol and Damarious Randall missed Wednesday’s practice for an unspecified reason.
Allegedly, Randall was sick. Hopefully he gets over it.
Funny the two positions we were supposedly so deep at WR and DB are just destroyed.
