Some People Want to Make an Issue of Eddie Lacy’s Weight

Eddie Lacy

Has Eddie Lacy been hitting the buffet line?

We really don’t know. There haven’t been any occasions this season when we’ve said, “Holy shit, look at that fat bastard!”

But some people really want to make Lacy’s weight an issue.

It’s come up in past weeks. The local hacks have asked coach Mike McCarthy about it during his press conferences and McCarthy has declined to suggest that Lacy is overweight.

It came up again today. And again, McCarthy declined to be specific.

“I’m not going to get into guy’s weights,” McCarthy said. “I mean, I’ve never been asked a question about a guy’s weight. But I think players do get bigger in their career. But he’s bigger than he was as a rookie.”

Well, you have been asked about Lacy’s weight before, Mike, but whatever.

McCarthy is correct. Guys do get bigger as their careers go on. That’s usually because they’re lifting fucking weights and that builds muscle.

Yet, we’ve noticed people — or at least a person — who covers the Packers offering up veiled suggestions that Lacy is fat.

That scrutiny or focus on Lacy’s weight as a cause for concern only seems to have increased since James Starks out-touched Lacy against San Diego.

We’re asking you. Has anyone seen Lacy out and about? Is he fat? Is he hanging out at McDonald’s? Is he trying to get Burger King to recreate the Gilbert Burger?

What do you know?

Dude, Lacy IS fat by hollywood standards, and he always has been, but this is the goddamn NFL. He’s been “fat” (read: build like a fucking tank and more in shape than you or I will ever be) his whole career and it’s part of what makes him the beast he is. People need to fuck off with the weight talk, the only thing holding him back this year has been that ankle. I expect Eddie Lacy to look like the beast he is again against Denver. I don’t care if they rank 5th in the league in run D. They’ll be worried about stopping Rodgers and Lacy will make them pay. I project 16 fantasy points for Lacy, 4 for Starks.

*Denver actually has the third best run D. Still not worried about it. The best QB they’ve faced is Derek Carr, so they haven’t had to keep two safeties back much at all this year and they will against us.

Eddie doesn’t look any fatter now than he did in his last two years.

Did anyone watch Lacy last year? Check out Lacy’s first half of the season stats vs. second half of the season stats. His slower start to the season is a trending theme in his career.

If his production doesn’t pick up over the next three weeks I might start getting worried. Not an issue at this point.

This is the NFL, these guys are physical freaks. They aren’t human as far as size to us normal folks. Joe Montana walked right in front of me back in the early 90s at Chiefs camp and he was a fucking big dude. I hear all this talk about how Montana was a small, skinny, nerdy guy, fuck no, Joe Montana was a mountain of a man. Derrick Thomas held up two toddlers in the palms of his hands, scariest thing I ever saw.

Dude. I met Joe Montana. I’m 6′-1″ and 200 lbs. my first thought was, “Mr. Montana is quite small, actually “.

On the otherhand I saw Lacy play against the 49ers at the Stick in Lacys rookie year. I had pretty good seats twelve rows up. Lacy got tackled and it thought there was an earthquake. That is a big dude and a terrific ball player. I’ve got every confidence that Lacy will dominate in the second half.

From what I’ve seen on film, Lacy looks the exact same, build-wise, as he did last year. The ankle has clearly slowed him down some, and he’s made some poor decisions on where to run. Otherwise, the only real obstacle for him besides the ankle has been carries.

I think Fast Eddie is gonna be the first ever NFL player on the injury report with the word “Artery”

I did see him at old chicago a day before a football game. One doesn’t go there for salads or anything healthy for that matter.
