The game-sealing play against San Diego was great, but rookie cornerback Damarious Randall has been solid regardless of when he’s been on the field this season.
Although he doesn’t have a pick yet, Randall does have 18 tackles and seven passes defended.
Then there’s this.

Look, you probably know how we feel about Casey Hayward.
Just a guy.
It’s not the Hayward is playing badly, but Randall is not only the future, he appears to be the present.
The Green Bay Packers have traditionally worked rookies into the lineup slowly, even those we all knew upgraded their position.
Ha Ha Clinton-Dix didn’t get his first start until the Packers’ seventh game, last season. Clay Matthews didn’t start until the fourth game of his rookie season, in 2009.
Perhaps the Packers won’t start Randall at all this year. However, it certainly makes a lot of sense for them to make a move coming out of the bye.
Randall and Shields are the guys on the outside for the foreseeable future in Green Bay. Hayward has always been better in the slot, anyway.
We say give Randall the nod and move Hayward to nickel.
It’s not only best long-term, it’s what’s best for the team now.
Hated the pick when TT made it, so glad I don’t know shit about fuck in regard to college players. This kid can flat out ball. He’s been beaten all of twice this year and one was on a perfect pass in what essentially amounted to garbage time, and two plays after that he broke up a TD pass.
I didn’t like it much either, but I definitely agree that it was a GREAT pick, and that TT certainly makes a better GM than I would. Of course, it is his job, so he does get to spend a lot more time doing it than we do. Anyway, I always appreciate and respect a person that can admit when they were wrong. GO PACK!
He has the speed and coverage ability as well as instincts to play outside, Hayward is best suited to the slot where a slower, but still instinctive player is effective. Randall was drafted to be the answer at long term corner and I think so far it has paid off.
He always looks for the ball and has the speed to run with anyone it seems.
Ahmad Carroll would always be looking at the receiver running away from him for a TD. Unless he was called for PI first.
