There have been all kinds of hot takes since Scooter Tolzien compared Aaron Rodgers to Michael Jordan. A lot of people were incredulous.
Like eyes popping out of their heads, faces turning red, looking like they’re going to explode, incredulous.
And yeah, we get it. Same thing we pointed out right after Scoots MaGoots said it.
Jordan, six titles. Rodgers, one.
Well, leave it to hot taker extraordinaire Colin Cowherd to summarize this in a fairly rational way.
I mean, don’t get us wrong. Colin Cowherd is a whiny douche who thinks he knows it all (and doesn’t), but we generally agree with him here.
Rodgers = great. But win some more titles, bro.
“We’re in awe of his talent, but he hasn’t won as much in the postseason as we think he should win,” Cowherd said. “Which probably unfair… but if you think about this with Aaron Rodgers. If the NFL ruled that Dez Bryant play was a catch, which 95 percent of the fans in America thought, Aaron Rodgers loses that game and it’s a four-year stretch with one playoff win for Aaron Rodgers. And that one playoff win was over a crappy Minnesota team that was starting Joe Webb at quarterback because Christian Ponder was hurt. Aaron Rodgers is an incredible talent, but he’s way more LeBron or Durant than he is Michael Jordan.”
“He’s got six playoff wins and one Super Bowl run in 11 years, eight as a starter, and four of those playoff wins came in one year.”
More hot taking right here.
And if you want to watch some heads explode, watch this.
The Dez Bryant play was NOT a catch. He was in the process of coming–stumbling, falling– to the ground and the ball fell out. That’s not retaining control of the catch throughout. It was the right call and that neither the NFL, the authors of the NFL rule book, nor talking pundits on the pundits can explain the rule succinctly and concisely matters not.
Not to mention, even if it WERE a catch, the Packers marched right back down the field, and could have easily scored a touchdown in return. They settled for a Field goal for obvious reasons.
COLIN COWHERD IS A DUMBASS! This guy was ALL OVER Rodgers 5 years ago for not having won a single playoff game (even though at the time, he had only been starting for 2 years). Then after his impressive playoff run, it became “he hasn’t won a Super Bowl”. He finally let him off the hook for winning the big game, but you can tell he’s been waiting for these many years to pass so that he can start ripping him again.
And regardless, winning is a TEAM stat, and an accomplishment anyway, nothing to do with how good you fundamentally are. Super Bowl or no Super Bowl, Rodgers is the best, PERIOD.
Cowherd was great when he was local sportscaster in Portland, but for the love of Allah, don’t give Hairplugs Rogainsky any free publicity. He will literally say anything to draw attention to himself since he moved to Douche York.
As for comparisons between football and basketball… I’m not sure there’s a more inane topic, outside of fantasy football. It’s bad enough they’re trying to baseball the NFL with fantasy bullshit.
We would,t have lost that game either way
I am concinced that people are merely trolling gb fans when they say #1 that incompletion was a catch or #2 that the packers would have lost if the cowboys would have scored on that drive. There was a ton of time left and gb was marching down the field with ease that 2nd half.
I understand that might be a catch in high school or college but in the nfl if you want a catch you jave to hold on to the stupid ball. The rule is pretty simple.
Awesome point. The Pack ended up running out the clock and taking a knee at the Dallas 25… at the very least, they get a field goal and go to overtime.
Screw you Colin!! 95% of the sporting public thought Dez made the catch???? Whatever!! I’d say 95% of Cowboys fans think that. Anyway….your other dumb ass comment about if the NFL rules it a catch then Aaron has only 1 win in 4 years postseason is totally moronic. How can you assume that with a few minutes left in the game that Aaron can’t march the Pack down the field and win??? But again…..this is the same dope that said Eli is more elite than Aaron even AFTER he was league MVP and SB MVP. Douche!!! Go AWAY!!!
“There’s no buts with Brees” Really?
“If the NFL ruled that Dez Bryant play was a catch, which 95 percent of the fans in America thought, Aaron Rodgers loses that game.”
I call triple bullshit. First off do you work for a research firm Cowturd? Because no one asked me to participate in your 95% survey. Second it wasn’t a catch because Dez nuts bobbled the ball throughout the process and didn’t hang on to it. It’s Bryants fault for not know the fuckin rule that’s been in place for over 5 years. Third there was plenty of time left on the clock to go down the field and have Crosby shoot a 3 pointer, just like they did in Seattle.
No buts for Brees? WTF has he done that P.Manning or Rodgers haven’t? Guy doesn’t even have an MVP to his name. The other two have six combined. No buts for Brady? Get the fuck outta town. If you want to argue about spygate and deflategate go ahead, but there is no arguing the tuck rule which is complete bullshit and without it the Patriots have at least one less ring guaranteed, if not more.
Well done, Cheese
When judging QB’s, when are people going to realize a QB can’t do it all, no matter how great that player is. Michael Jordon didn’t win shit, until they got better players to support him. In 2010, the Green Bay Packers had a “team” capable of getting to and winning a Super Bowl. Last year, to get to the Super Bowl, it all broke down, because they didn’t play well as a “team”.
Ever hear the phrase ” Big Ben won 2 Super Bowls”
How does a QB playing in the Super Bowl, who goes 9 of 21for 123 yards, 0 td passes, 2 interceptions with a passer rating of 22.6 win a Super Bowl?
He doesn’t, his team does.
Exactly. I’m so sick of hearing about how great Rapistburger is because he has two rings. That’s probably the worst performance by a SB winning QB ever.
Lets say with a better coaching staff and all Brady would have one ring less and Arod at least one more.
Football and Basketball are two different types of sports sorry. I believe in Basketball 1 player can have a greater influence on a team than what Football can. In football you need more pieces than 1 great player. It just doesn’t work that way.
And why do people keep forgetting that it was almost 5 minutes left in that Cowboys game? Plenty of time. I believe Green Bay would win that game no matter what. Also one main reason the Cowboys lost that game was the fact that they couldn’t stop Rodgers. Let’s not forget other things that took place over that game like DeMarco Murray fumbling what would of been a TD.
I watched some of the Cowboys Giants game and Dez caught a pass but when it was slowed down you could see the ball hobbling out of his hand. I believe the ball even came out on the ground lol.
I’ve tried to see Cowterds point of view but i couldnt get my head that far up my ass.
