While things weren’t looking so great for injured linebacker Sam Barrington, they were looking just fine for injured receiver Randall Cobb.
At least as fine as can be expected.
Cobb, who went into the weekend at less than 100 percent, was limited in the Green Bay Packers’ win over the Chicago Bears in week 1. He caught five passes for just 38 yards and a touchdown. And although Cobb played 54 of the team’s 60 offensive snaps, quarterback Aaron Rodgers said the Packers took some routes out of his usual repertoire.
The good news is Cobb’s injured shoulder didn’t get any worse.
“I didn’t have any setbacks after the game,” Cobb said Monday. “I feel the same way I did before the game yesterday, so I guess that’s a good thing. Hopefully it continues to progress.”
That is precisely what we expected.
The injury may not be fully healed, but the risk of making it worse by playing is low.
Cobb will have to continue to fight through whatever discomfort he feels, but hopefully he’ll be close to 100 percent by the time Seattle gets here.
