The Green Bay Packers got a glimpse of defensive lineman Letroy Guion at practice on Wednesday. It’s the first time Guion was eligible to be with the team after serving a three-game suspension for his offseason arrest.

However, the Packers haven’t made the corresponding roster move just yet.
#Packers received a roster exemption Tuesday from NFL for DL Letroy Guion through Oct. 2. He's expected to be activated later in week.

What that means is the Packers won’t have to cut anyone to add Guion to the active roster until Friday.
Interestingly, the Packers didn’t use (or didn’t get) a roster exemption when defensive end Datone Jones returned after his suspension, following week 1. That could be because they knew they’d have to put Sam Barrington on injured reserve. They did, which created the spot for Jones.
So, it’s possible they could have gotten an exemption then, but the move was obvious so they just made it immediately.
There’s no such convenient season-ending injury-related move to make this time around. Someone will have to go to make room for Guion.
We’d be happy to see cornerback Demetri Goodson get the old heave ho, but lo and behold, he’s injured. Again.
It’s funny how that seems to happen each and every time the Packers are set to make roster moves. If they cut someone while they’re injured, they have to pay an injury settlement.
What will be more interesting is seeing where Guion fits in on the Packers defense. Mike Pennel has done a decent job holding down the starting defensive end spot that Guion was supposed to occupy.
Does Guion get that slot back, do they split time or is Guion now just a rotational player?
What did he drive to practice? Either a rental or some old 72 rusty Nova he bought on Craigslist.
This is a nice problem to have. We appear to have a pretty beastly D-line this year. Gonna take Guion 3 weeks to get right physically.
Guion should be full speed after the bye. Until then he will be a welcomed additive to spice up our run stop and goal line situations
