That played out exactly like we thought it would.
The Green Bay Packers placed linebacker Sam Barrington on injured reserve, which ends his season, and activated defensive end Datone Jones from the suspended list, on Tuesday.
Barrington had been dealing with an ankle injury, but it was apparently a foot injury that ended his season.

So what now?
We know what now at inside linebacker.
The Packers will turn to Nate Palmer to fill Barrington’s spot. When they shift Clay Matthews outside, that will also create an expanded role for rookie Jake Ryan.
However, we don’t expect to Matthews outside much. He played just 23 of his 77 snaps against Chicago at outside linebacker.
If the Packers need reinforcements at the position, expect them to go to the practice squad, where they have Carl Bradford and James Vaughters.
As for Jones, what his role will be has been somewhat unclear.
He was getting second and third-team reps during the preseason and with good reason.
The former first-round pick has been nothing but a disappointment in Green Bay.
It appears that will remain the case. A quick look at the Packers’ depth chart and you’ll see Jones is listed behind Mike Pennel at defensive end.
