Another day, another former Green Bay Packers pass catcher given the ax. This time, it was receiver Jarrett Boykin who got released by the Carolina Panthers.
Confirmed per source, #Panthers have cut WR Jarrett Boykin. That's a surprise one for right now.

Unlike Brandon Bostick, who was jettisoned by the Minnesota Vikings on Monday, this comes as a surprise. Boykin signed as a free agent with Carolina this offseason and they lost their top receiver, Kelvin Benjamin, to a torn ACL earlier this preseason.
Carolina’s depth chart consists of Ted Ginn, Corey Brown, Jerricho Cotchery, Devin Funchess and Brenton Bersin. A real who’s who of receiving talent.
And that should tell you that Boykin didn’t make much of an impression.
Kind of like his 2014 season with the Packers, when he was more or less handed the No. 3 receiver job and then, because of injury and ineffectiveness, went out and recorded just three catches for 23 yards.
That’s for the season.
Of course, Boykin had 49 for 681 in 2013, so there’s some evidence that he can play.
Maybe an insurance policy for the Packers.
