Clay Matthews is On a “Program”

Clay Matthews

Clay Matthews practiced on Monday, but the news about his injured knee still doesn’t seem very good.

Matthews has been dealing with what has been termed as knee soreness. That caused him to miss five practices and Thursday’s preseason opener, although we believe he would have played if it were a regular season game.

So Matthews has more or less been day-to-day since shortly after training camp began.

It doesn’t sound like he’s going to be fully healthy anytime soon, either.

Monday morning, Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy wasn’t even sure Matthews would participate in practice.

“I think he’s going to try to practice today. He’s on a program that they’re going through,” McCarthy said.

There’s that word.

Program.

That probably wouldn’t be a huge deal if Matthews had a sprained ankle or something. You let it heal and get back out there.

The fact that Matthews is trying to practice while simultaneously doing a rehab program seems to signal a larger issue, i.e. one that isn’t going to go away. So Matthews will just have to play through it and that hasn’t exactly been his strong suit.

Maybe he and his brother and DavidB should try a different off season gym. PSP didn’t help them so much this year

When will he be back on the field full-time? Only his hairdresser knows!

His best years might be behind him.

Chin up, William. You still have to look forward to counting the lines and crow’s feet on your old wife’s face as she grows older. Oh, there is raising the little one, William Clay ” Oopsie” Matthews IV.

He needs to keep it together. Quit doing all he commercials and movie cameos and concentrate on what you’re paid for.

He’s not even the leader on defense and that tells you something. I expect him to be traded in the next couple of years, especially if he does not play well this year and/or if he misses games due to injuries.
