Brad Jones isn’t the Green Bay Packers’ problem anymore. He’s the Philadelphia Eagles’.
Yes, the Eagles were that bad on defense last season that they picked up Jones after the Packers finally, thankfully threw him on the scrapheap back in February.
And, whether it’s a veiled shot at his former employer or just a way to brown nose his new boss, Jones is talking up how much better it is in Philly.
When Jones was asked to compare the culture of his new organization with that of his old one, he talked about cohesion.
“It’s football,” Jones said Tuesday. “Honestly, the team cohesion is better. Honestly. It’s the same, if not better.
“Guys like each other. Everybody’s focused on one goal. That’s really the goal and key of every championship team. … The closeness and cohesion of every team, if everyone can get together and say ‘Let’s win a championship,’ that overtakes any skill. It overtakes anything.”
This is funny for a couple reasons.
First, because it comes from the guy who inexplicably went for a field goal block when all he should have been doing is looking for a fake in last season’s NFC Championship game. You know how that turned out. Only one guy — A.J. Hawk — left to cover two receivers in the flat. Touchdown, Seattle. Comeback on!
After the game, the Seahawks admitted that they keyed on Jones’ idiocy. They knew he’d try for the block regardless of the situation.
So, if those Packers lacked cohesion, you could very well argue that Jones and his me-first approach was part of the reason for it.
Second, a very similar thing happened when another shit sack of a linebacker left town. His name was Nick Barnett. He too was cut by the Packers. He then went on to sign with the Buffalo Bills, where he quickly told everyone how much better Bills fans were than Packers fans.
Is this a developing pattern?
Inept, me-first linebacker gets cut by Packers, signs with crappier team, opens mouth, verbal diarrhea.
I don’t know. I don’t blame Jones for what he said as much as I blame Barnett. You might be able to convince me Jones was caught off guard and didn’t really have a good answer. Barnett, on the other hand, is just a piece of shit.
The good news here is, we’re rid of all of these assclowns!
Argh, what was he thinking on that block? What are the chances he actually, does in fact, block a kick? 1 in 100? Maybe? Stupid.
Good riddance, I say.
sour grapes….the grass is always greener. Whatever you have to tell yourself, Brad.
Translation: ‘More cohesiveness’ = ‘they don’t know how bad I blow yet, so they’re still covering for all my screw ups’.
Who cares what he’s saying. The only thing that really matters is how he plays, and the fact that it won’t be for us anymore (thank god)
At the end of the day, Brad Jones still sucks shit.
Honestly honestly…you’re full of shit Brad. Looking forward to you continuing your impressive run of personal fouls at the most inopportune moments.
One thing Jones does acknowledge is he has no skill. Jones also has no football instincts. Never has, and never will. The one thing I missed about Jones was he has no common sense or communication skills. He has proven himself for what I have always thought he was, dead weight to the Packers. It is just to bad the Packers still incurr over a 1 mil hit to the cap this year from the Jones experiment. Even when you get rid of him his dead weight still is a drag on the team.
I don’t care what that guy says as long as he says it in a different uniform. Eagles…Hardees any uniform but Green and Gold
The pattern is
1. Get cut or traded
2. Talk shit on packers
3. Fail in new lesser franchise
4. Two to three years later apologize to try and sap some good will out of Packers fans.
See: Favre, Jennings, etc
Right, the team that traded away foles, boykin, mccoy, and let maclin go in free agency has a lot of cohesion. Chip kelly is known to be quite personable. Haha this is too good
I liked Nick Barnett. I think Monty is mad because Barnett chimed in on Tom Crabtree’s comments on this website. Who knows though?
“That’s really the goal and key of every championship team.” – and what would the Philadelphia Eagles know about that Brad? Oh thats right….NOTHING.
