[tps_title]27. Seattle Seahawks[/tps_title]
Another ugly monstrosity foisted upon the NFL and the viewing public, all in part of a scheme to revamp a perennially failing team by stoking fan interest with the offer of exciting new merch to buy and buy and buy at truly outlandish prices. The old original Blues from the heady days of Jim Zorn, Steve Largent, Chuck Knox, Kenny Easley and the original Curt Warner were not classic, but they worked well enough for a hapless upstart expansion team from the mid-1970s.
The Seahawks logo, inspired from totem pole design from Northwest Indians, was quite befitting of a team seated in the Pacific Northwest.
The navy blue and neon or even moss green is far from an improvement. Indeed quite the opposite. Worse still are the novel design elements, including gray and moss stripes across the chest, replete with goofy, “futuristic” style lettering, with neon green border and alternating off white and light grey checkered pattern.
Notably, the away uniform is not nearly as horrific.
Sadly, some teams may be inspired to follow suit given how the Seahawks finally ended their drought of almost 40 years of hopeless futility. That miracle happened in spite of — not because of — this abomination in design.
