[tps_title]10. Cleveland Browns[/tps_title]
Perhaps the most controversial spot in these entire rankings. A lot of folks seem to think that brown and orange are ugly. If not done correctly, this can certainly be the case, as these colors can be reminiscent of bad fast food chains or convenience stores.
True aesthetes, however, understand how these colors can work very well together. Perhaps there is no better way than as seen in nature, particularly as the colors of autumn. Beyond that, brown and orange enjoy a uniquely retro feel, as this color combination was quite popular in the 1940s and 50s — quite fitting for one of the more old school, historical teams that was once one of the perennial powerhouses in the NFL.
Orange and brown offer a unique, timeless look to the Browns. The bright orange helmet, sans any logo, is a throwback to a different era.
Those in doubt of how well these colors can work (and do work for the Browns) should behold, as just one example, the Great Northern Empire Builder color scheme, from a time when rail travel had a sense of elegance and romanticism.
Admittedly, adding the splash of red in the Great Northern herald along with gold trim enhances the visual appeal of this distinctive color combination. Even so, I know I am not alone among the purists who never want to see the Browns change or move away from this classic, timeless design.
