It’s a training camp tradition — Green Bay Packers players riding local kid’s bikes from practice back to Lambeau Field.
And proving once again that they will do just about anything to slurp on a giant corporate cock for a few bucks, the Packers organization has seen fit to commercialize that tradition.
Not only do they want players riding bikes from practice, but they want them riding to practice. They’ve built a little path from Lambeau Field to Ray Nitschke Field just for this and they’ve given it a snappy name with a hashtag (so MAKE SURE you use that on all of your Twitter photos).

You know, I’d be fine with the Packers commercializing everything if I got any dividends on my worthless stock. But I don’t, do I?
So maybe some things should be off limits.
It won’t change the experience. I was able to go up there for that once as a kid I lived 3 hours South of there. The only thing I remember was getting David Whitehurst’s autograph, not if the street was named or not.
If they really wanted to keep this traditional, they should make them all ride Schwinn Stingrays.
Are you thinking clearly? Green Bay is by far the smallest market in major US professional team sports. “Slurping” money? Of course they should. This is a BUSINESS. It’s they same reason you have ads on your website. Grow up.
Just turned AdblockPlus off for this page so it would actually load, and Monty’s criticizing someone else for “slurp[ing] on a giant corporate cock for a few bucks”-funny.
No shit hey.. Talk about calling the kettle black.
What’s the problem here? I remember as a kid we made the 6 hour trek to Green Bay several years for training camp. I was always so jealous of the kids who lived in town and had their own bikes to give to the players. But I did get to carry Chris Darkins’ helmet one year as he walked across the parking lot signing autographs. When he got to the player’s entrance to the locker room, he brought me past the fence and security guard, took a few pictures with me and gave me his gloves that he signed. That was the coolest thing ever… Would I have thought any less of it had some coorporate sponsor plastered their name all over the festivities? Not at all. I wouldn’t have even noticed. Who gives a rip? It’s a great tradition that kids love and shows that these guys are humans too. And now you want to mock it… Is there a single thing you like about the Pack? I swear, all I ever see you do is rip the team and organization.
it had that name last year. They made up some cool bikes that ride a player and a couple of kids. It’s not real corporate looking, it is just the side walk and part of the parking lot. the kids seemed to enjoy it just as much.
At least “we” don’t play at “Heinz” field or “Gillette” stadium. Thankfully some things are off limits with the Packers so you should be grateful for that. Even your red-headed, ginger friend said as much at the Shareholder’s meeting this week.
Occurrence affecting the Packers.
Piss, moan, chide, dog and criticize.
Monty books another productive day.
Gilbert Brown used to buy for as many kids who followed him to Burger King, I was too old (16) at that point but used to sit in the car and smoke cigarettes until Leroy came out and busted us and I felt worse than if my dad caught me. And this concludes today’s trip down memory lane.
If they were willing to do anything for a buck they would be selling the naming rights to the stadium to some corporation. I don’t think this one street being sponsored by someone is a big deal
