Former Green Bay Packers receivers just aren’t having much luck this offseason. James Jones is joining Greg Jennings in getting a trip to the unemployment line.
BREAKING: San Jose native James Jones told me GM Reggie McKenzie has informed him the #Raiders are going to release him. #Raiders

Jones signed a three-year, $10 million contract with the Raiders prior to last season. In his one season in Oakland, Jones caught 73 balls for 666 yards and six touchdowns.
The Raiders went and upgraded their receiving corps by signing Michael Crabtree as a free agent and drafting Amari Cooper in the first round of the draft. Those moves made Jones expendable.
Now, this is pretty much a total dick move by GM Reggie McKenzie.
Jennings was released by the Vikings in mid-March, which means he had plenty of time to go find another team. Eventually, Jennings did just that, reuniting with Joe Philbin in Miami.
Jones, on the other hand, is now a free agent in a market where everyone in the NFL has just filled their receiver needs through the draft. He’ll probably be sitting around without a job until some team loses a receiver to a season-ending injury during training camp. That is, if he gets one at all.
