We figured the Green Bay Packers re-signing B.J. Raji — if they so chose — was a foregone conclusion.
After all, Raji went through this very drill last offseason. Following a season that could best be described as total garbage, Raji entered free agency and heard the deafening sounds of silence.
He ended up returning to the Packers on a one-year, $4 million deal. Then he suffered an arm injury in the preseason and spent the entire 2014 campaign on injured reserve.
So who would want a guy whose last active season was subpar and is coming off a major injury?
More people than wanted Raji last time around, apparently.
Speaking of #Packers… what about BJ Raji? I’m told he’s weighing offers. Preference is to return, but definitely no sure thing now.

We find the idea that Raji is “weighing offers” laughable. Not because we find it impossible that Raji actually has multiple offers, but because it’s totally possible that Raji has multiple offers.
Maybe a year of not playing has made other teams forget about how awful Raji was when he last played.
Or, maybe Raji’s price is now so low that other teams are like, “What the hell. Let’s take a flyer on this fat bastard.”
We know the Packers want to bring Raji back. If they really want him back, we know they can make that happen. However, they aren’t going to be stupid about it. Nor should they be.
As was proven last year, B.J. Raji is replaceable.
man, these agents play the NFL media “insiders” like a fine musical instrument. What’s Rapoport’s average for his “I’m told” or “insiders say” headlines? Is he above 50%? Heck, I could throw some of the same crap against a wall and 50% will stick.
Russ have to agree with you. I happen to be surprised that no one has attacked you for those comments. There are some who are defensive about us who write negative things about agents and their manipulation of the media.
What about the smaller elephant in the room, Guion?
Pretty sure we’ll get Guion back and at a cheap price since he’ll most likely be facing a league suspension for the first few games, and he’s now a drug policy liability. All leverage for the Packers.
don’t you mean the more stoned elephant?
The Vikings, of course.
The Bears remember that INT and want him at TE.
Offers? Like coupons for an “all you can eat” chain restaurant? Sure, I’d believe that. As for an NFL team? That’s just agent speak for 100% organic compost.
No way in hell any team that was interested in anything but driving up the Packers’ cap expenses would express an interest in him. Unless there’s a contract on the line, he makes Joe Johnson look industrious.
may as well kick the tires on that Lions dud, Fairly if we lose Raji…
Right, the offer of the cashew chicken with fried rice versus the offer of sweet and sour pork with chow mein noodles. TOUGH CHOICE.
Let’s get Patrick Willis out of retirement. Let’s use rest of our cap money on Willis and we’re set for suberbowl. Forget this injury prone bag.
9ers still control his rights.
Pretty sure that isn’t a tweet from the real Ian Rappaport. That account is a fake which got SI’s Peter King. Which, pretty much makes this story invalid.
Gilbert’s good for a season…
Damn straight there’s a Market for him: Boston Market.
The Bears are going to nab both of these fat fcuks and pay them with Deep Dish Pizza. Not sure why we signed 30y/o Royal to 15mil and 40y/o 12mil. Hopefully we get these two fat unproductive monsters to just plug stuff up. Maybe you guys will only hang 40pts on us this year. Either way if we get them then we can snag Amari or (the next) White in the first then an edge rusher and cornerback. Not sure why would should draft Shelton that high when there is absolutely no value in these guys after too many burrito bowls at Chipotle. Stay cheesy my northern friends.
