Packers will Not be Landing Percy Harvin

Percy Harvin

The Green Bay Packers will not be signing receiver Percy Harvin.

Harvin signed a one-year deal with the Buffalo Bills Friday afternoon.

The Packers were reportedly interested in Harvin, who was released by the New York Jets earlier this week. However, as is always the case with the Packers, they weren’t about to outbid anyone for his services.

Harvin left a two-day visit with the Bills obviously not overwhelmed with their offer. Had he been overwhelmed by it, he would have signed while he was in Buffalo. That seemingly opened the door for the Packers or anyone else who wanted to get involved.

We know Harvin was open to taking additional visits, so long as he didn’t find the team’s offer insulting. The Packers obviously didn’t meet the criteria of a non-insulting offer.

Now that all of that has been said, the Packers didn’t really have a need for Harvin, except as a kick returner. They have plenty of receivers returning. After the top three of Nelson, Cobb and Adams, the Packers have to see if Jared Abbrederis and Jeff Janis can contribute at some point. That point may as well be now.

Adding Harvin, while it would have been nice, would have been a luxury.

Like buying a beach house.

It was a foregone conclusion that the Polar Bear would not countenance this cancer. Still glad it’s over though.

Buffalo is building the Miami Hurricanes of the NFL. All the bad boys. They just need Michael Vick and the team is complete.
