All of that hubbub for pretty much nothing.
Defensive tackle Letroy Guion is a free man with no criminal record despite getting caught with a gigantic bag of week, a gun and around $190,000 in cash in his truck back in February in Starke, Florida.
Guion reached a plea deal on Tuesday.
He’ll pay a $5,000 fine, plus court costs, but that’s it. The felony drug charges against Guion have been dismissed.
The civil forfeiture case, where Starke PD seized Guion’s cash and his brand new Dodge truck is still pending. If Guion is able to recoup those items — and there’s no reason he shouldn’t be able to — we’d say he got off pretty easy for being a total moron.
Now that that’s settled, the focus will surely turn to getting a new contract done with the Green Bay Packers.
The Packers were negotiating a new deal with Guion during the season and they’ve stood by him throughout this ordeal. With this roadblock formally lifted, it should pave the way for a return to the fold.
This was likely holding up BJ Raji’s deal as well.
So, where are all the fools who were blasting the police and how dudes busted with pot are treated way too harshly?
Looks like a slap on the wrist to me.
People who are busted with pot are treated way too harshly. When they don’t have NFL career to pay for lawyers.
Besides just about any punishment for weed, is too much.
i guess Singapore won’t be getting an nfl team anytime soon. the penalty for possessing over 10 oz. of dope is: hanging by the neck until dead…
they have a formula one grand prix race every year… and that isn’t rigged more than the nfl games, no?
Wow. That wasn’t even a slap on the wrist. That was like someone waving a tissue at him compared to what it could have been. I want his attorney’s number. You know, just in case.
Wow, with a fine like that it makes you think who informed on someone? I would think Guion gets everything back with a thank you note from local, state, and federal drug authorities. Anyone who may have had deals with Guion have to be paranoid as hell right now.
If you’re complaining about this sentence, don’t forget Darren Sharper got 8 years for raping 8 women. I’ll do the math – that’s 1 year per woman raped. And it was clearly premeditated. Screw Saul, you better call Sharper’s lawyer.
20 years in Louisiana. The 8 years was for LA if I’m not mistaken. Unfortunately he gets to serve all terms simultaneously and not consecutively.
“I’m not even mad. That’s amazing.”
Can you say “random” drug check for the next few years? I thought you could.
You mean, it turns out charges go away if you just have the money? Whats actually more important is money? These laws aren’t created to make people safer but just another form of supplemental income to a state(s) who cant balance a budget in the first place? Nooooooo waaaaaay
I knew nothing was going to happen to him. He’s a “professional” athlete and they never go to jail unless they murder someone or get caught raping women AFTER they get out of football. Whatever.
