We’re not ready to suggest the Green Bay Packers will have both of their starting guards — T.J. Lang and Josh Sitton — on the field on Sunday, but there’s a chance that could be the case.
Both players watched Thursday’s practice and rode exercise bikes, but both will be tested on Friday, according to coach Mike McCarthy.
He went on to say that even if neither player practices this week, they still could play.
“I’d be very comfortable playing T.J. and Josh without any practice time,” McCarthy told the media.
So it looks like both guys will do some light work on Friday. Then the Packers will see how they feel on Saturday, which is what the decision will really come down to.
If neither player can go, we’re looking at Lane Taylor starting at one guard and J.C. Tretter starting at the other. It’s unclear which guy would get the nod if one of the starters is cleared and the other isn’t.
If you’re overly concerned one way or the other, keep this in mind. The Chicago Bears defense is not terribly good. They’re ranked 21st overall and are giving up an average of 372.3 yards per game.
