Luther Robinson is in the big leagues now. The Green Bay Packers added the rookie defensive tackle to the big club today.
He spent the first four weeks of the season on the team’s practice squad.
Robinson and his fat ass are 6-3 and 301, which puts him closer in size to the truly awful Letroy Guion than it does to the Packers’ other wide-body undrafted free agent defensive tackle, Mike Pennel.
In fact, Robinson is smaller than Guion by about 15 pounds, so he’d probably get shoved around on the nose. On the flip side, he’s considerably larger than most of the Packers’ current group of defensive ends. The exceptions being Mike Daniels, who checks in at 305, and Josh Boyd, who weighs 310.
Boyd is listed as doubtful for tonight’s game, which is probably what prompted Robinson’s addition.
The Packers need another body to get plowed over by an opposing running back.
If you’re wondering where Robinson’s roster spot came from, it came from Andy Mulumba, who was put on injured reserve about three weeks ago. The Packers were apparently just biding their time with that roster spot in order to save themselves some dough.
Don’t want to pay a guy NFL money when you can pay him practice squad money!
Big Ted! Genius!
