Packers Brought in Max Bullough, Luke Bowanko and David Fales

Max Bullough

These flew under the radar, but here are three more names to add to the list of Green Bay Packers pre-draft visits. They are Michigan State inside linebacker Max Bullough, Virginia guard/center Luke Bowanko and San Jose State quarterback David Fales.

Bullough is a fairly intriguing prospect. Although he’s noted as being somewhat stiff and not very fast, i.e. an average athlete, he’s also one of those heart and soul guys. In other words, a natural born leader, a guy who leaves it all on the field and has a high football IQ.

And when you’re that guy on hands-down the best defense in college football, well, that’s fairly impressive. Of course, there’s the whole not-terribly-athletic thing. Can anyone say A.J. Hawk?

I can.

Bullough is 6-3, 249 and had 76 tackles, including 9.5 for loss, and a forced fumble as a senior. He’s expected to go somewhere around the fifth round.

Bowanko. What do you say about an offensive lineman?

Well, he’s 6-6, 302 and he was a three-year starter, so there’s that. He also played both guard and center and you know being able to play multiple positions is a prerequisite for any Packers offensive lineman.

The Packers also have to figure out who their starting center in 2014 is going to be. Even if they pick him, it probably isn’t going to be Bowanko. He looks like a late-round pick at best and not many of those guys find their way into the starting lineup year one.

Fales is another late-round prospect, but a pretty interesting one. At 6-2, 212 he doesn’t have prototype size. Nor does he have a huge arm or laser-like accuracy.

What he does have are smarts, toughness, mobility and a strong work ethic. He always looks in control of the offense and in the pocket. Fales is a guy who you’d say can make most of the throws. Oh, and he’s got plenty of fat stats.

He only played two seasons at San Jose State, but he had two statistically impressive (and almost identical) seasons. As a junior, he threw for 4,193 yards, 33 touchdowns and 9 interceptions. He also had an NCAA-best 72.5 percent completion percentage. As a senior, he threw for 4,189 yards, 33 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.

I’m good with Bullough in the 5th round. We could always use that kind of football player. Plus he’s got some Packers lineage (Hank Bullough).

One might say what’s in a name and if I were a Bears fan I probably would think it’s spelled that way but Fales? I don’t know.

Nobody is gonna read this but I’ve have to mention it. Guess who drafted Fales? The Bears ofcourse:)
