Forget these guys.
Yeah, like Donte Whitner, there are some good strong safeties in there, but strong safety is the only position that Burnett plays at even a mediocre level.
Packers need a centerfielder type FS. Jarius Byrd and Steve Brown are the only guys that fit that bill. Byrd will be too expensive and Brown is coming off a torn ACL.
I have four words for this situation- first round draft pick.
We’re not going to get any of these guys. We should just convert Micah Hyde to safety and take a safety in the first round of the draft.
Three words, but agreed we need to address this through the draft; I would rather see us draft a D-lineman or one of the few decent ILBs in the first or trade down and then draft 1 or 2 safeties in the 2nd.
My gut says that in the first round we will draft a WR, or maybe a guy who played ILB in college and high school to a safety spot. Why not!?
I think I like our chances with the college guys better.
Only the ghost knows. And don’t be too sure about that.
