This is the week, everybody! This is the week where the Green Bay Packers get it done! That is, if you believe James Jones.
Jones was asked about Matt Flynn and his ability to throw the ball downfield. That’s something the Packers weren’t able to do, or didn’t try to do, with Flynn in the lineup last week.
That allowed the Lions to shut down the Packers running game and ultimately, their offense. The offense put up just three points against Detroit.
“We have to make some throws,” Jones said. “Everybody knows it. It’s going to be cold. They’re going to stack the box to try to stop James and Lacy. We have to make some throws and we have to make some catches. It will get done.”
So then the question came of whether Flynn can make the throws Jones is talking about. And here’s this ringing endorsement.
“Have you seen Matt make the throws?” Jones asked back to a pause. “I’ve seen him make them before, so I believe he can make them.”
Alright, maybe it’s not a ringing endorsement, but it’s starting to look like the Packers won’t have another option.
Although Scott Tolzien has the bigger arm, the Packers have decided to stick with Flynn. The word from 1265 is that the coaching staff likes Flynn’s experience in the system more than they like Tolzien’s big arm.
Flynn has had some success. He just didn’t have any of it last week.
Part of the reason for this was the awful play of the offensive line. If they don’t shape up this week, it’s not going to matter who’s playing quarterback.
let it be written; let it be done.
Game and season over…here’s to a top 10 draft pick!
Somewhere Sun Tzu is rolling in his grave.
I believe you James.
James Jones always had the right attitude, bless him.
Unfortunately, when he takes the field on Sunday in red-Tom-Coughlin-face cold he will find 11 highly compensated pro athletes whose job it is to stop “it” from “getting done.” Then he’ll discover that saying it will get done does not necessarily make it effin so.
If scoring 13 points is getting it done, then absolutely.
Is he talking about his new contract ? Ur, no ?
Gotta love the glass half empty attitude around here these days.
Glass? What glass?! Sounds like someone took the whole jug of milk and poured it out on the counter.
I am glad they are losing…its easier to fix the holes in the leaky cieling when you take off the roof (MVP QB).
Spoken like a true fan.
It’s also a lot easier to dump on the residents of the house when there is no roof, to borrow your expertly crafted ceiling, er, metaphor.
Wait, why are the holes in the ceiling a concern in this matter, wouldn’t it be the holes in the roof that are of ultimate importance?
Top 10? I’m pulling for top 5. There aren’t 9 teams these guys could beat right now, they earned a premium draft position. Time to cash in.
