Here Are the Packers Options at Receiver

With Randall Cobb out six to eight weeks with a broken fibula, the Green Bay Packers will likely need to add another receiver to the roster. Here are the leading candidates.

Myles White
White seems like the obvious choice if the Packers add a receiver because he’s already on the team’s practice squad. The rookie out of Louisiana Tech was an undrafted free agent who caught eight balls for 90 yards during the preseason. This guy can fly, but he’s obviously somewhat raw.

Jeremy Ross
Remember me? Yes, Ross was on the Packers roster to start the season and then they cut him after he fumbled a kickoff return against Cincinnati. Ross is now on the Detroit Lions practice squad, so the Packers could pluck him from there and add him to the active roster. Ross knows the offense and had one reception for eight yards as the team’s No. 5 receiver before getting cut.

Tyrone Walker
Walker was an undrafted free agent from Illinois State who was in camp with the Packers. He was released during final cuts and we were somewhat surprised he wasn’t brought back on the practice squad. Walker had a solid preseason, catching 11 balls for 78 yards. He has since signed to Seattle’s practice squad and then released.

Tavarres King
King was a fifth-round pick of the Denver Broncos out of Georgia this year, but he didn’t make the final roster. He’s currently on the Broncos practice squad. During the preseason, King had five catches for 64 yards. So why sign this guy? Well, he’s probably one of the more polished receivers in this group. Adam Schefter suggested the Packers might look at him.

Donald Driver
This is probably the most unlikely signing, but we had to mention it because we know how much all of you love Donald Driver. Yes, he knows the offense. Yes, he’s had a lot of success in the offense. He’s also 38 years old and had just eight catches for 77 yards last season. That, and he’s probably not in football shape.
