After missing week three with a concussion, Green Bay Packers rookie running back Eddie Lacy has been cleared to play. Lacy was a full participant in practice on Monday and coach Mike McCarthy says he’ll go this week.
“I thought Eddie practiced well today,” McCarthy said after Monday’s practice. “So it was good to have him back out there. He’s full go, and I think the week off definitely helped him.”
More good news is Johnathan Franklin, who ran for 103 yards against Cincinnati, also practiced on Monday. Franklin hurt his ankle in that game.
So what’s the bad news? You know there has to be some.
Ed Werder just reported that the Packers expect James Starks to miss a couple weeks with his knee injury. Starks ran for 132 yards in week two and had 55 in week three before getting hurt.
Unlike the Cincinnati game, the Packers won’t just be rolling with two running backs, though. They brought up Michael Hill from the practice squad yesterday and while we doubt he’ll be a big contributor, at least he provides some insurance.
Obviously, these guys just drop like flies when they wear the green and gold.
That line of Suh, Fairley & Ansah makes me appropriately nervous…
I hope Eddie goes for 100 yds. & 2 TD’s
Thank you TyKo, couldnt agree more.
WE MUST be able to run the ball. Best chance we have Sunday. Keep Detroit O off the field as much as possible AND set up the play action for Rodgers to buy him a few extra ticks of the clock in the pocket.
McCarthy will be a dick, and run right into the teeth of Suh/Fairly/et al — it’ll go for shit.
Once or twice, a play will bounce outside for big yardage.
Rather than taking what the opponent gives him, or playing to their weakness — he’ll run straight at their strength.
And then he’ll start passing.
Cutler/Forte combined for a cool play against the Lions, when Jay tossed the ball wide and Forte avoided all the linemen and scored. “That” would be the perfect play for Franklin; I’ll be curious to see if McCarthy refuses, or infrequently, uses it.
Marshall and Alshon made that play, Slacker. Exquisite blocking by those two on that play. I’d like to see us try it, too.
Time for Eddie to shine…
our run game is taking shape. Franklin did a helluva job against a very good Cincy front 7 with the stretch plays. He has good vision for the cutback. Lacy will be the banger between the tackles for the tough yards. Starks, if he makes it back, is a little of both. I think we can run against Detroit. I don’t think they are as good against the run as Cincy is.
Wake up TT…..Looks like when the Ravens need a solid left tackle to protect their 100 million dollar QB…Ozzie Newsome fleeced the Jags for Eugene Monroe. Where was Ted Thompson? Taking a nap?….It’s ok Ted, go back to sleep.
TT is a dolt! MM is a dolt’s dolt! Capers is even farther down that road! I am sick of all the homers on the other Packer’s sites making the same excuses and repeating the same talking points! When is M Murphy going to start raising some hell with this POORLY COACHED TEAM? When is TT going to use a more hybrid form of player procurement? Stop the draft and develop only and get some better players via trades or Free Agency! Oh they will be better in a year or two! Meh . . . MM is a milquetoast!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love those hamstring injuries! Love those 50 plus sacks! Love those 4th quarter collapses! Love those screen passes( NOT! where in the hell are those screen passes!!! ) I could go on! Go Pack! grow some balls Mark Murphy!
Mike, go tongue punch your mother’s butthole. It’s obvious you have no clue what u are talking about, when it comes to this team.
Wow such acrimony (do you even know what that word means? lol). Do not bring my mother into this you CUNT. You Florida gomer are the one most likely, due to a lack of education to tongue your mothers ass. Now, knee jerk aside, tell me what these guys have done, besides LOSE when they have to win since 2010? and then tell me how I am sooooo wrong shit for brains! and just because I call it as I see it, you act like a cunt?
