Personally, and I’m totally biased, but I think we deliver exactly what we always promised on this blog — straight-forward, honest commentary on the Green Bay Packers.
We do that from a perspective that’s based on passion… and knowledge. So, yeah, when some people proclaim Donald Driver the greatest receiver in Green Bay Packers history, we’re gonna tell them why he isn’t.
We understand that pisses people off. And that’s fine. Not everyone is going to agree and not everyone is going to take the time to educate themselves. Does this point of view make us elitist snobs?
Maybe. I really have no idea how to define that. Someone with more knowledge than us? Or is it someone with less, who just feels inferior?
What we know is this — those people who read us regularly do so for a reason. Because they’re as invested as we are. They know who Don Hutson is, they hate the fucking Queens and all of their shitbag fans and they have intelligent comments that add to the discussion (even when we don’t agree).
Then there are the “journalists” who like to hate on what we do.
To be honest, we wouldn’t have this blog if it weren’t for them. Know why? Because the Packers only give press passes to “established media outlets.”
We’ve asked. So until we start a television network, launch a radio station or start to produce a newspaper (because everyone reads the newspaper!), we won’t be able to get the access these other clowns get. As someone who used to write for the Appleton Post-Crescent and the Oshkosh Northwestern, I find that to be complete and utter bullshit.
It’s also reality. So we rely on the work of all those local Packers beat writers.
Turns out, sometimes those local beat writers aren’t happy with what we present.
Do we care what they think? Nope. If they were better than us, you’d be reading their websites instead of this one. And frankly, if we had the access they’re allowed, they’d probably be looking at Craigslist right now.
So, do you want to know who carries a badge as a member of the Internet Police?
Of course you do.
We posted something about the Packers’ expectations for Nick Perry the other day. The information for that post came from Kevin Seifert’s blog at ESPN.
And then there came a comment from Kevin Seifert (or someone pretending to be him) that said this.
I love when you copy posts from ESPN
How ironic. The one place that has been slammed for “reporting” things as fact and not giving credit. I mean, for example, anything they report about the NFL they may as well say, “as first reported by Fox Sports Jay Glazer.” Do they do that?
You watch the scroll and tell me.
Anyway, my reply was something like this — I love when you steal ideas from us and then pretend that they’re your own and don’t link back.
Honestly, we can’t prove anyone is stealing our ideas, but shit gets fishy when we write something and then this assclown or the Journal-Sentinel or the Press-Gazette has the same story or “column” a couple days later.
And hey, that’s how it works. Someone writes something that’s intelligent, exciting and is going to get people to react — you take that and offer a slightly different take. In most cases, you might actually mention the original work — like, “I read so-and-so’s column on the Green Bay Packers and…”
In other cases — on the Internet, where some of us know about traffic — you might even link to that original article/post, as we always do.
Then again, if your fucking vagina hurts, you might just leave a comment on someone’s blog complaining about them copying your work. And that seems totally appropriate, doesn’t it?
So, that guy. Who else is guilty here?
You’ll never guess.
Jason Wilde is also a member of the Internet Police.
While we don’t have evidence that Jason himself is monitoring the site and then getting all butt hurt when he sees something he doesn’t like, we do know two things.
First, he reads the site. We know this because he’s mentioned it on his weekly radio show.
Second, someone consistently comments on posts that reference Wilde activity. In those instances, it’s always something like, “as told to Jason Wilde, where’s the reference?”
Well, the reference is in the link that we provide to that article. If you knew jack shit about how the Internet works, that would probably be satisfactory to you.
Instead, someone needs the glory. Sometimes we reference Jason Wilde articles, people! Did you get that? Jason Wilde! There’s no way anyone could have said those words to anyone other than Jason Wilde because no one can ask the probing, informed questions that he can!
Did I mention that Wilde writes for ESPN Wisconsin… or Milwaukee… or whatever the fuck?
At least when the Urinal-Sentinel and Press-Gazette copy our shit they have the decency to not comment on our site and make stupid accusations. Just like we don’t comment on their obviously copied articles.
They’re good to not out-and-out plagiarize shit, which we appreciate.
Anyway, it happens. We get it and after our initial anger wears off, we feel a certain sense of pride. We wrote something that was so good that some journalist agreed, rewrote it and then went and put it in the newspaper.
Awesome.
But ESPN doesn’t play the game. They’re the worldwide leader, you know. And part of being the worldwide leader and maintaining that facade is that you don’t credit anyone. You steal ideas for posts from people who don’t have your visibility and pretend you came up with those ideas. Because most people will never know.
When you, yourself, write a post on information someone else reported first, you credit the source of the information, but you’re sure not to link to them. Because why would you link to someone who did your job better than you? Links are Internet currency, and why would you give that credit to anyone who doesn’t write for ESPN?
You wouldn’t. You don’t. Yet, your pussy starts to hurt and you feel the need to comment when you don’t get what you want.
Guess what.
Suck my fucking balls.
In reality, I love what Wilde does. Good writer. Former newspaper guy like me. Knows his shit. Consistently better than the JS and PG guys. But turn in your Internet Police badge, bro. Or at least call off your minions.
Seifert? I could give a fuck about.
I could write a circle around that motherfucker by myself if he had a team of 20. He’s lucky that his shitty blog got a link from this site to begin with.
So really, if you’re going to leave a comment, make it relevant. If you want to tell me what an asshole I am, call me — [thanks for all the calls and texts] — and say it directly to me.
That’s my cell phone.
If you work at ESPN and want to piss and moan about how we credit you, well, guess what. Fuck yourself. You’re lucky we credit you at all.
For all of you who read and contribute, even when you don’t agree, thank you. This wasn’t meant to be some self-indulgent exercise, but we’ve had enough of people’s stupid bullshit. You’re the heartbeat of this site and everyone else, we’d rather do without.

Fuckem!
Thanks for all the work you guys do on this site. I come here specifically because you link to the other sites and I love the writing style.
Seriously, fuckem.
What should we call Jason Wilde’s minions? Wilde Stallions? WildeBeasts? The Wilde Things?
The WildChildes? The Wilde Bunch? The Hog Wildes? The Wilde Turkeys? The Kim Wildes (okay that one’s pretty GD awful)?
*slowly claps hands, increasing intensity while standing up to give standing ovation*
this was fantastic!
This is my favorite Packer website for a reason :)
Who would believe that Monty’s longest article wouldn’t even be about the Packers?
Who the eff is Jason Wilde?
I probably follow him on twitter, but that’s not exactly an exclusive club. Maybe if I was drunk I might accidentally repeat an idea of his, that is about it.
I believe it. BTW that’s about the worst thing you could ever do drunk, including performing a Ryan Dunn homage.
Some points:
Wilde has a *DAILY* radio show, and does daily segments on two others, as well as one on Sunday on Chewy’s show.
The quality on 540 has gone way down hill–this includes Green and Gold today. They are now having stupid ask the fan themes about what Viking you’d like to have on the team, or what moment reminds you of whatever it was the Blackhawks did in game six. The station also has a decided slant for reconciliation with Berty, describing those like mysellf against it as “marginalized.” Alex Petakis, who is has guest hosted for the inane fluff mentioned above, is also particularly smug and insulting. Let’s not forget Bill Johnson bellowing about how Packer fans who have high expectations for this team are insufferably spoiled. Finally you had that week right after the draft when they talk about Tebow and gay rights, instead of breaking down the metrics on Teddy’s picks.
Added to this there is less and analysis or insight. One point I raised on here is how we can realistically expect a substantially improved running game, when all but the very elite running backs (I am talking about Barry Sanders or Adrian Peterson) will fail to thrive without road-graders for an offensive line. Remeber Ahman Green? He had Wahle and Rivera who routinely pushed huge gaping wholes to run through.
Other topics this and other venues have failed to discuss is Mac’s talk about being physical enough, or Dom Capers not practicing for the pistol option prior to our exit from the playoffs. These are subjects that Monty has covered, and covered well.
Giving the steady decline in quality at 540, I use this site ALONG with JS online as my go to source.
I have not even listened to green and gold today this week after reading the show summaries in itunes.
Monty does an awesome job, and that is without all the clout and resources enjoyed by ESPN and, by extension, The Mouse.
OK, now I actually am posting on TotalPackers. Gotta say, loved the earlier comment by Jurgens about the Wilde Minions. I’m partial to the Wilde Bunch as a name for them, but that’s just me. Also, if you know who they are, let me know.
As for this post, which clearly isn’t from a member of the Wilde Bunch, I’m open to your suggestions on #GGToday. We are (or I am) trying to be all things to all people with the show and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. The offseason is a bit trickier topic-wise than in-season, I hope you’ll acknowledge. And if we disagree on whether or not Ahman Green was a difference-making running back or just the beneficiary of an excellent run-blocking offensive line, isn’t that the whole idea — to have topics we can debate?
Also, just my $.02, you’ve got Alex Petakas all wrong. He’s a talented, good kid with a ton of potential and he’s not smug. I’m honestly surprised you feel he comes off this way.
Anyway, you can email me at [email protected] anytime. Happy to hear you out.
One thing I want to address, my comment on running backs. Ahman Green was a great back, but not transcendent. My understanding-and surely *YOU* will correct me if I am wrong–is that a premiere running game requiresBOTH a road-grader quality offensive line (or at least two of those type of guards) and a good to great running back. Only truly transcendent, once in a lifetime type guys like Barry Sanders or Adrian Peterson can tear up defensive lines without first rate lines to blow holes up. We don’t have those types of road graders on our line–at least I don’t think we do. So my fear is that Lacy and the other guy may not produce as much as we hope.
Anyway, this is just a sample of the sorts of topics that have been addressed on here. Meanwhile, your ‘sub of the day” asks what Viking do we want on our beloved Packers team. Which of the two topics is more substantive, more enlightening, and more pertinent to the Packers bid to capture the Lombardi trophy this year?
Mit Kuessen,
EW
As often as I disagree with you, that last paragraph deserves a big A-Ha! and, touche, if you are so inclined to accept that is.
What have we disagreed about? Berty? I don’t recall.
The Vikings have a decent O-line, esp. when compared to Barry Sanders’; and yes that’s all I received from that eloquent, meandering, country stream of consciousness.
You may be right. Point is–AP does not need a good offensive lne to do what he does, Most running backs do.
True, valid point.
Gotta say, I do enjoy some Total Packers.
There is a finite amount of packers stuff to write on. All packers analysts are going to write about nick perry and expectations in the off season. Is journalism now just a race to see who writes it first?
Fucking love your username.
The WildChildes? The Wilde Bunch? The Hog Wildes? The Wilde Turkeys? The Kim Wildes (okay that one’s pretty GD awful)?
Baaah! wrong post.
Please massa, don’t feed me no mo’ butta.
GO PACK GO!
Nicely done! I can’t stand ESPN. Not sure how you feel about Dan Patrick, but I find his referencing to ESPN as ‘the mother ship’ to be rather comical.
I really enjoy what you guys do here. It’s where I come for my Packer’s news. Can’t recall how I stumbled upon the site, but I’m sure glad I did. If it means anything, I kind of like that you aren’t big badass writers with press passes and the big name. Makes you easier to relate to, I guess. Pretty sure I’d have no problem sitting down at local watering hole with you guys.
Didn’t you know? ESPN is run by aliens…ILLEGAL aliens (BUM BUM BUM).
This is my go to website for Packer info. Nice article. Main stream media is lame. Thanks for telling it like it is Monty!
When you’re trying to insult a man by saying he has a vagina, your argument is null and void. Vagina’s are stronger than balls anyway so really it’s a compliment.
Yes, but they don’t dangle (well not the pretty ones), and you can knock someone out with a schlong, then again I suppose you could suffocate them with a snatch. The way I see it vagina’s are sneaky, ya can hide things in there, like snukes, whereas balls are kinda just in you face, I suppose it’s not manly to be sneaky. In summation no one likes surprise butt sex.
In the spirit of this post, Karma is clearly referencing Betty White: Balls are sensitive. You want to call something tough, call it a vagina. Those things can really take a pounding.
Monty keep up the good work. Love this site – even moreso since the shitbags at JS and PG want me to login. I never go there any longer.
the only way to make the post better would have been to put a porn star as the picture.
I love it! This is the first post I’ve ever read here. This is exactly how real football fans think, so refreshing to read something that isn’t a cookie-cutter article.
Here, Here. Nicely done. Your blog is for those who want the Packers inside scoop without all the Politically correct bullshit. Keep calling it how you see it – and Iltarion will continue to lick Ted Thompson’s balls in the process.
Not this again…smdh.
Pretty sure wilde gives credit when there is a unique idea out there every time he talks about one.
Also, ewolf, it’s the off season. Fluff pieces happen when you do a daily radio show. And don’t mistake being confident in your own opinion as being arrogant, as you described several radio people.
I see no real issue in bitching about siefert if he did indeed bitch about being cited, but wilde is pretty damn good at weekday he does. That said, i think this website is a good one for packers news/opinion.
I love this site! man this the snarky site and I love the comments. dudes here are passionate about our Packers. Been a Packers fan for 40 some odd years and check my Packers sites every day. I do not live in Wisconsin and have no access to the papers or local radio, unless I dicked around on the net searchin for it. I do go to the JS and GBPG web sites, but since they started charging for access after so many articles, I am very selective about what I read. I NEVER read Seifert, and ESPN Wisconsin – Wilde is the very last site I check, if I check it at all. ESPN is not Packers friendly, in my opinion. I check Total Packers every day, multiple times a day. I love the comments even if someone bust my balls, except for the dickbag that called me an idiot when I was obviously kidding. And my favorite part is the fact that everyone here rips the douchebag purple pussies. Screw ESPN.
The Green and Gold radio show is average at best. I stopped listening because frankly it just became annoying. Tuesdays with Aaron is a pretty solid listen. Wilde hosts both of these shows. I think some of his questions in the McCarthy pressers are on point.
I have read my fair share of articles on this site, but when Aaron Nagler was more proactive with Cheesehead.tv that was the best site for Packers info. I am still a loyal follower to the cheeasehead.tv (Brian Carriveau and Zach Kruse keep the ship sailing.) But Nagler and Corey Behnke have created a very in-depth packers blog.
With that, this article was a great read. Haha
Can you recommend an alternative? I went there because 1250 sucks so bad.
If you have never been to http://cheeseheadtv.com/blog/ then I recommend that. I dont listen to sports radio all that often, but they have weekly podcasts that you can stream.
They are kind of the Packers hub in my eyes. If you click on the “PackerWorld” tab you can find the links to other packer blogs, like “TotalPackers” Also more audio and video links
Sorry I am not trying to be a cheesehead.tv fan boy.
I willl check it out. Love a good podcast. G and G Today has really declined. I am still going to listen, but will weed out pointless filler material.
By far my favorite Packer site. Fuck Qweifert and his Queens. Fuck the clowns at AM 540 and Urinal-Sentinel. Fuck the sacks of shits that give Packer fans a bad name. Fuck that low rent Donald Driver putt putt “statue.” Keep doing what you do.
@Smdg, your post smells like old, sweaty headphones and a spit-covered mic. @Monty, Thank you and keep swinging. You’ve got something here and you know it, and anyone who comes across this site looking for quality Pack news knows it and treasures it. Not all of us are vocal, but we’re here – every day, three times a day. GPG!
Monty makes Total Packers. It’s a great place to vent, joke, and tell Vikings/Bears fans to go fuck themselves.
Putting your cell # on the internet, those are some mighty large huevos, my friend.
Great post, just as we have become accustomed to.
Straight up, I used to go to the packers site, espn, fox, yahoo to catch up on shit about the packers. For 3 or 4 years now I come straight here for packers news.
You keep it 100, no P.C. bullshit, no cookie cutter article layout. Shit is real, and thats why
^… thats why I love this site and will continue to come here first.
Pure fire. You’re the Ghostface of the Packers blog game.
They call him DYLON. Dylon, Dylon, Dylon. He spits hot fiya!
Is Monty Macs guna hafta slap a bitch??
This is THE best Packers site because all the people here, even the nutjobs, speak the unvarnished truth about their positions on THEIR team with some fucking heart. We all own this blog – without the range of input from the readers, from the aforementioned licking of TT’s balls to the universal, seething, writhing, dripping hatred and contempt of all things horned and purple, this site and its information would be nothing more than a fart in the wind.
Sometimes when I read shit on here, I can easily imagine myself half in the bag in some tavern anywhere in Sconni, talking Packer shit with the other patrons who are in pretty much the same shape I’m in. Some agreement, some fuckin’ A’s, some you’re outta your fucking mind. But no one pussing out and trying to fit in because someone’s looking over their shoulder and worried about having their slip pulled because of what they say.
And that fact alone is what makes this site unlike any other. Total Fucking Packers – All the way, all the time and if your don’t fucking like it, go suck balls someplace else.
What?!?! You don’t have press pass?!?! After beautiful, mature articles such as this one? This is a travesty!!!!
Bravo!
Something has a Monty in a bit of a tizzy lately, I can’t quite put my finger on it.
Postin’ the digitz on the interwebz, boy you gonna get some fun calls from some awesome peeps like DD and that Jon Marlboro fella. Here’s hoping you record them in one medium or another If not, I’m sure you can always ask the NSA for the records, PRISM’s got your back.
This is the best Packer Site online and it matches my humor. Monty can take nothing and make it a interesting (or at least worthwhile) article with some funny remarks. Are they all winners, no but nobody is perfect. How many other sites are still posting interesting articles during the slowest months of the NFL season about the Packers? nobody. Hell I have almost stopped reading Packers.com because I know Monte will not pussyfoot around and criticize Teddy when he screws up.
As for the ESPN they can suck a dick. All they want is complete control of the sports news network and everything they say is gold in their minds and everyone else reporting is shit. Look how they are ramming down the QBR down our throat, hell half the time I do not see a NFL quarterback rating anymore in their articles. Though they still are best all round until some competition walks onto the market (Fox).
Being a diehard Packers fan and now living in Indiana with my best Packer bud living in Alabama (Native Cheezeheads by birth) we fly up at least once a year to watch games and have crossed just about everything off our list worth doing at Lambeau field but find Monte and get ridiculously shitfaced with him as the Packer whip the shit out of the Bears or Queens. Long live Packers.com!
Er, Total(Packers.com) perhaps?
So what you’re saying CBSSports.com and NFL.com don’t have legitimate reporting? You know with the likes of Freeman and Prisco, and Rank, Jamie Dookies, and Bucky Beaver Brooks, and of course the ever-accurate and un-biased Top 100? Come now. (BTW, check out that use of the Oxford comma, heel-fucking-yeah).
Love this site Monty, and read it several times a day. Have turned many family members on to it as well. Along with the sarcastic humor, which I greatly appreciate, it’s a quick and easy way to get daily updates on anything Packers. The comments add to the site as well, even when they are way off base, which they normally are. ESPN does suck, and I hope in the worst way the emerging CBS and NBC sports networks keep slowly chipping away from their share of the market. Any, keep doing what you’re doing.
BTW, pretty cool that Wilde reads the site and actually took time to post a comment.
Herr Wolf – meisterhaft gesprochen, wie immerse mein Freund.
right on Monty, love this site
I don’t always agree with you, Monty. In fact, most of the time I disagree with you. But I love the site. It’s the the first feed I check in the morning. Keep up the good work.
Been reading this site at least twice a week since 2009. Really takes the bullshit out of Packers commentary, which I appreciate greatly. I have zero access to Packers info outside of the internet, floating around out here in the Arabian Sea, and there’s no place I’d rather read it than Total Packers.
Nothing bad to say about Wilde, guy is good and knows his stuff. But Kevin Seifert died in my eyes years ago, guy is so Minnesota biased on his blog it hurts to watch. He can fuck off and die a terrible death any time now.
Well done.
I used to have all kinds of football sites that I would check everyday. Most of them had the same stupid shit. In an attempt to maximize my time not dicking around on the internet, I stopped going to most sites and this is the only one that lasted. There’s a reason for that.
While everyone one else is bitching about sports personalities, I’d like to throw something in. The morning show on the Fan wduz out of Green Bay is absolutely horrible. I used to listen to it when I fist moved here because I didn’t know any better. Now I can’t go ten minutes without wanting to pull my hair out. Neither of them have a fucking clue what’s going on, despite this being their “job.” I still find myself correcting things they say and I don’t pay attention to half the shit I used to.
Love.
This is what I get for not checking the site after I get home. Fuck me this had to be fun to write.
I enjoy reading every article on totalpackers.com. Go Pack Go!
I went to College w/ Monty. He has always been the same guy I knew way back when as he is today—bold, brash, unpredicatable and in your f#cking face! Definitely not a sell out! Keep up the good work!
This site is my go to for Packer news and real raw honest opinions. We need to petition the Packers organization to get this site a press pass! Been a fan of the site for years! Keep up the good work Monty and crew.
Being a born and bread Minnesotan – I hate the pack. But I have to hand it to you, this site is fucking funny.
-N
Great post. Sorry I saw it so late – but I really enjoyed reading it. A question – shouldn’t it be the “Urinal-Sentinel” and the “Piss-Gazette”? It would be more consistent that way… Anyway, it is just a suggestion from someone that really enjoys your work, and shares your passion for The Pack. Keep up the great work!
Saludos de Buenos Aires, BZ.
If it is the “urinal-Sentinel”, shouldn’t it be the “piss-Gazette”? I mean, just to keep things equal….
