Gone are the days when you’d draft a turd like Terrell Buckley and he’d hold out until the fourth week of the regular season. The collective bargaining agreement took care of that with their rookie wage scale and it’s made signing draft picks a formality. Hence, the Green Bay Packers are going through that formality today.
The Packers start their rookie camp late Friday afternoon and the gang’s all here, so why not have them ink some deals?
The first to get done with fourth-round pick Johnathan Franklin, who wants to be mayor of Green Bay. Then came sixth-rounder Nate Palmer, who has Bears fans shitting all over him.
Next came fourth-round pick David Bakhtiari, who thinks he’s got something to prove. He was followed by the other fourth-rounder, J.C. Tretter, and seventh-rounder Sam Barrington.
That leaves first-round pick Datone Jones and second-round pick Eddie Lacy left to sign.
These guys hit the practice field at 4 p.m. local.
And the boys from Cali will not be pleased. It is 50 degrees right now. Barely.
woo hoo!!!! heat wave!!!!
