[tps_title]2. Charles Woodson[/tps_title]
Charles Woodson is not only Ted Thompson’s best free agent signing, but he’s one of the best free agent signings of all time. Thompson grabbed Woodson in 2006, when no one really wanted him and Woodson was wary of even coming to Green Bay.
In seven memorable seasons, Woodson became the backbone of the Packers defense. He made four Pro Bowls, was a two-time first-team All Pro, led the league in picks twice and won a defensive player of the year award, while resurrecting his career and cementing his place in the Hall of Fame.
Woodson’s line with the Packers: 465 tackles, 38 interceptions, 11.5 sacks, 15 forced fumbles and 10 touchdowns.
Great list, though Eugene Robinson should be on it.
RIP- The Minister of Defense – the best defensive player I’ve ever seen (and Lawrence Taylor and his coke habit and his 16 year old prostitutes can kiss my ass).
How can you criticize TT’s lack of free agency splashes when he’s made 2 of our best three signings ever. Besides, big name free agents are virtually always overpaid. He makes his moves opportunistically, and this list is evidence of that.
Did you get beat up by frank Winters for calling him names?
Lol, I was wondering the same thing; good ol’ Frannkie-Bag-o-Donuts.
Wasn’t Robinson a trade pick up? It is a shame Sean Jones couldn’t have hung around one more year. He wouldn’t have gone all pussy against Denver like that fucking turd Gabe Wilkins.
Reggie was told by “God” to come to the promise land! George Washington played a role also. Uncle Teddy is a mystery. I don’t know Teds tactics, personality is zero, his presence in a room can’t be much. He does not let a nickel get by him. I envision his approach as dry insurance salesman pitch, no fucking emotion. Loosen up Ted, get a bottle of Crown and blow the joint up with a free agent. Maybe getting them plowed would help our chances. When they wake up with a good Wisconsin hang over with a contract taped to their forehead.. To late
Crown Royal ? The only gossip i’ve heard is that TT frequents a local convenience store on the way home to pick up a 6 pack.
A few beers at home behind closed doors. Ted obviously walks the walk.
Isn’t it amazing that Sean Jones and Reggie White put up so many sack numbers from the defensive line? Does any linemen do that anymore? I’ve got to say DL linemen have become major pussies in the NFL. None of them have the “man strength” like these guys anymore, well almost none of them. Or is it that offenses have become too fast to let these guys have a chance to make the plays in the backfield at this level?
The Minister, as he should be reverently known by the proletariat, was a 4-3 defensive end, they are built fore to rush the passer than 3-4 ends. The 3-4 defense is now the prevalent scheme in as it the NFL, as such, there are more 3-4 ends built to stop the pass. Having said that how many of these guys would you call pussies:
Jared Allen, John Abraham, Osi Umenyiora, Justin Tuck, Jason Pierre Paul, Dwight Freeney, Robert Mathis, Julius Peppers, Elvis Dumervil, Mario Williams, Jason Smith, J.J. Watt, Geno Atkins, Haloti Ngata, Sopoaga?
“Reggie, this is God. I want you to go to Green Bay.”
I don’t know about the rest of you but I can’t stand the lack of free agency moves by TT. There are alot needs that could of address that Ted is being a cheap about. He need to realize that you just can build through the draft. We have the cap space? After read Tom Crabtree dealing I think he needs to spend money or we are not even going to the playoffs.
Today’s USA Today analyst gives the Packers’ free agent performance an A for playing tight with who’s out there and saving the money for Matthews, Raji, and Rodgers. Make of it what you will.
