The way he started the season, Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews was putting himself in the defensive player of the year mix. Now, he can’t even get on the field.
Matthews will miss his third consecutive game with a hamstring injury. The way the Packers have been diagnosing injuries this season, we’ll probably learn Matthews was misdiagnosed, actually has a knee injury and is going on injured reserve a couple weeks from now.
Due to the number of fuck-ups they’ve had on the injury front, the Packers seem to be covering their asses on Matthews’ return. Will he be back next week?
“I couldn’t tell you; we’ll talk about it next week.” coach Mike McCarthy said. “He’s making progress, but he’s not ready to play in the game.”
Well, at least he’s making progress. How many guys weren’t making any progress so far this season? Greg Jennings, Cedric Benson, Sam Shields, Nick Perry…
The Packers will likely go with Dezman Moses in place of Matthews again this week.
They way they’ve been diagnosing injuries I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised to hear Matthews going on IR in next week or two.
“…we’ll probably learn Matthews was misdiagnosed, actually has a knee injury and is going on injured reserve a couple weeks from now.”
Guess I should actually read the article first. ;)
Fuck this training staff and team of doctors!!! Why lie… Couple weeks turns into couple months!
This is an ongoing injury. At lease 2 seasons now.Operate and get the damn thing fixed like D.J. Smith did.Or it will a problem every year.It looks like he hurts it with all of this bull rushs.
Nov 6th McCarthy said a couple of weeks for Mathews. I remember Mike Neal, when he hurt his knee in a non contact drill. McCarthy said he was close to coming back, 4 days later he had surgery. Concerning Jordy Nelson, MCCarthy said Jordy felt something in warm ups, but played him anyway, now he’s out for the Lions, maybe longer….Every week with this chit for 2 seasons now.
