Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers enjoys playing with receiver Randall Cobb and he’s got some high praise for the second-year player.
Rodgers told USA Today he thinks Cobb will go down as one of the best draft picks in Ted Thompson‘s career.
So now, a year later, Cobb is what Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers deems “a star in the making.” Cobb, 22, has 45 catches for 500 yards and six touchdowns. Rodgers predicts Cobb’s selection “is probably going to go down as one of the best picks in (Packers general manager) Ted Thompson’s career, if not the best.”
Let’s think about that for a second.
Thompson not only drafted Rodgers, who’s working on a potential Hall of Fame career, but Clay Matthews, Greg Jennings and, well, a bunch of other guys.
We get that Cobb is coming along nicely, but that’s a bold statement.
Randall Cobb is the new Jermichael Finley, only he’s not destined to become a huge disappointment.
DC’s will now be forced to have game plans specifically designated to stop Cobb, but will either fail or will succeed at the cost of letting Nelson, Jones and Jennings run completely free.
What he’s doing this year is making GJ expendable. I love GJ, but since we’re that deep at the WR position, hard to justify spending all the money when a couple major contracts still need to be signed.
Lets start making a nickname for Randall Cobb.
I still think the ideal situation is Jennings and Jordy on the outside with Cobb in the slot or backfield. This offense has still been a shadow of itself without Jennings out there.
Cobbo Wabbo
Randall Cobbs my next jersey. Kids got talent, speed, versatility, intelligence, and is a pretty humble guy. Perfect Packer people.
He must like Cobb’s dreamy eyes or something?
“Rodgers predicts Cobb’s selection “is probably going to go down as one of the best picks in (Packers general manager) Ted Thompson’s career, if not the best.”
That’s pretty funny… because Rodgers must be not looking at the guy that brushes his teeth at night. To win that contest Cobb has to be better than himself!
You think I could make the practice squad?
