St. Louis Rams running back Steven Jackson will not be joining the Green Bay Packers, according to his coach.
The Mustache, AKA Jeff Fisher, says Jackson is staying put.
“The Steven Jackson rumors are rumors,” Fisher said, during a media briefing at Rams Park. “He’s our running back.
“We’re not calling around, nor are we getting calls for that matter. Put that to rest.”
The NFL’s trade deadline is tomorrow and the Packers were reportedly interested in acquiring the 29-year-old. Jackson has rushed for more than 1,000 yards in seven seasons and has more than 400 this year.
Back on the home front, Mike McCarthy is saying Alex Green, the Packers current starting back, is his guy, although we may see more of James Starks.
Whoever is getting the handoffs probably won’t matter though, since T.J. Lang, Jeff Saturday and Bryan Bulaga can’t block anyone.
Exactly why I would not trade for him. The rams probably would want to much and I doubt he would give us much more then what we are getting now. Only way our run game improves is if the blocking improves. I believe starks could be a decent back if he can stay healthy and get on the field.
Shattered. As are your dreams of three 18 year olds in the hot tub. Get over it.
$3.5 million for half a season? I’ll pass.
Fisher has to say that though. What is he going to say?
“This guy is washed up and one foot out the door.”??
I’m sure the GM of the Rams Les Snead wasn’t too happy with the Coach saying that. If a good offer came thru… the Rams should take it. What is there not to like to trade Jackson… 3.5 mil richer and a draft pick.
Of course the Rams should and would take a good offer if it came, but a good offer is less likely to come if you are already saying the guy has no value to you and you don’t want him around. By insisting that you plan on keeping him, you drive UP his value.
So Marshall Newhouse and Josh Sitton can block someone?
So let’s just run it between Newhouse and…..
or Sitton and…..
oh nevermind.
Someone tell Chris Long that Bryan Bulaga can’t block anyone.
Talk about over-priced…..
Panthers running back DeAngelo Williams is in the second year of the five-year, $43.5 million contract. Word is his future in Carolina has never been more uncertain.
Can we still send Finley to the Lams?
