Not good. That’s what kind of comparison that is. According to Pro Football Weekly, a Green Bay Packers team insider says backup quarterback Graham Harrell reminds too many people of Caleb Hanie.
“The coaches like him,” one team insider said of Harrell, who is likely to see considerable action in the Packers’ preseason finale. “But he still reminds too many people of Caleb Hanie.”
Who the hell is Caleb Hanie?
Exactly.
For those of you who haven’t kept up on the illustrious career of Hanie, he was the Chicago Bears backup quarterback last season. After almost leading the Bears to a victory in the 2011 NFC Championship game when starter Jay Cutler hurt his vagina and backup Todd Collins hurt something else, Hanie was handed the backup job last season.
Cutler went down in week 11 last season and the Bears were in playoff contention. With Hanie at the helm, they quickly fell out of contention, losing all four of his starts. In those four games, Hanie managed to chuck nine picks against only three touchdowns. The Bears scored 20, 3, 10 and 14 points in those games.
Hanie signed with Denver in the offseason.
So, if anyone with the Packers thinks Harrell is another Hanie, then they better run him out of town now. If Aaron Rodgers goes down, the Packers playoff chances would probably go up in smoke if Harrell is anything like the Bears former backup.
So IF Rodgers goes down, a backup QB could possibly sustain our playoff hopes, IF Rodgers only has a minor injury AND the Packers are not well ahead of the pack.
Sounds like a worthless IF to bet on.
If GOD FORBID A-Rod goes down there is no back up quarterback (and most starters) in the league that would be 1/3 as effective as Rodgers in the playoffs. In other words: No Rodgers = We’re fucked.
A back up? Not a starter, but a back up? I know its important. I know it is. But a back up? Here we are talking about a back up.
Well done.
Ya we are talking about a backup, you know seeing how it’s PRESEAON, the main time of the season that you would talk about backups. Also you should remember that, (knock on wood), Rodgers has not only been hurt before, but has also suffered a concussion. So this IS the best time to talk, and worry about the 2nd string QB position.
Agreed. I like Harrell but the guy is just not cuttin’ it. Hopin’ we pick up Tarvaris Jackson. He’s mobile and has the experience. God forbid we ever need a backup to win a game for us but we don’t stand a chance with Harrell in there.
When you trash talk players like Caleb Hanie you are sure showing your true nature. After seeing his college career I personally have faith in his ability to prove he is the man that John Elway and alot of other people in the know see hope in his ability to lead a team to many victories. I don’t believe he has ever talked trash about other people to the extent you seem so willing to do. Maybe you need to take a
good look in the mirror and see your problem.
