Matt Flynn left the Green Bay Packers for big money and a starting job. He won’t be getting the latter.
The Seattle Seahawks named rookie and former Wisconsin Badgers quarterback Russell Wilson their starter over the weekend. While Flynn played pretty well this preseason, Wilson was even better.
Wilson started the Seahawks third preseason game, while Flynn sat out with an elbow injury, and went 13-of-19 for 185 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran for 58 yards.
Flynn and his $19.5 million contract will be the Seahawks No. 2 guy.
Finally, the Packers won’t be picking up Tarvaris Jackson, who was Seattle’s No. 3 quarterback. He was traded to Buffalo over the weekened. You can breathe a sigh of relief.
Good for Wilson. I think the Seahawks got a steal with him. He is smart, accurate, and athletic. I think he’s going to be a starter in the NFL for a long time. Hopefully Pete Carroll doesn’t find some way to curb his development.
I’m not from WI (just a Packers fan) so I was pulling for Flynn, but it’s tough to deny what Wilson has done in college and preseason, and he seems like a class guy, so good for him.
Really tough for Flynn though.
Well, that means Flynn is available, right? Solves the Harrell question….
hey Seahawks, send Flynn back! we’ll take him!
I think we could spend $5 million a lot better than on a backup QB.
yea, you’re right……. like maybe one heck of a tail gate party for opening day! (p.s. the serious blog is on the other channel………)
