Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has three years left on his current contract, but when Drew Brees got handed the highest signing bonus in league history we got a pretty good idea of what Rodgers’ next contract will look like.
Rodgers, who will make $8.5 million this season, is grossly underpaid when compared to the league’s top-paid quarterbacks and the Packers will likely give him an extension before his current deal is up.
Of course, Rodgers isn’t concerned about any of that.
“That stuff takes care of itself,” Rodgers told Ian Rapoport. “I still have a few years left on my deal, and we’ll talk about that when we get there.”
Is Rodgers really this swell of a guy? The kind who looks at what other guys are making and just doesn’t care?
Maybe. We know he’s driven to win more than anything. We also know he noticed when Brees got paid. Unlike other guys around the league, Rodgers doesn’t seem like the type to make a scene or hold out, though.
We’re sure the Packers will reward him soon. It seems like they have to.
