Unlike a certain shitbag who will remain nameless, the Green Bay Packers current quarterback wants to remain with the Green Bay Packers “for life.”
Aaron Rodgers told the Press-Gazette’s Mike Vandermause as much when asked about his next contract during an extensive interview.
“I want to be a Packer for life and I don’t see myself going anywhere else. I don’t think they would even get close to that,” Rodgers said.
We’re sure the Packers feel the same way and Rodgers’ contract will likely be one of the next extensions the team addresses. Rodgers’ deal runs through 2014, but he’s grossly underpaid for a top-flight NFL quarterback.
Rodgers will make $11.1 million this season, $12.4 million in 2013 and $13.6 million in 2014, including bonuses.
In comparison, Peyton Manning and his gigantic forehead are getting $18 million from Denver this season. That increases to $20 million in 2013-14 and then goes down to $19 million for 2015-16. Eli Manning will have a cap number of $9.6 million this season, before coming in around $20 million for the final three years of his deal.
In all, eight quarterbacks will have higher base salaries than Rodgers this season, including the Rams Sam Bradford, Mr. Personality Matt Ryan and The Doughboy, Matthew Stafford.
Are any of those three guys even in the same county as Rodgers? Shit no.
The Packers are going to have to pay Rodgers sometime soon. The good news is he’s obviously about more than just the money.
