Driver: One Or Two More Years

Donald Driver

Although there’s been plenty of speculation about his future with the Green Bay Packers, receiver Donald Driver seems pretty confident about it.

The Packers reportedly offered Driver a restructured deal last week and the Dancing With The Stars champ says he plans on playing one or two more years in Green Bay.

“I’ll be in Green Bay. I’m not going anywhere,” Driver told Scott Van Pelt and Ryen Russillo. “I’ve always said I want to retire as a Packer, I think the organization knows that, so we’re going to come together. We’re going to make a decision. One, two more years, and then I’ll put my cleats on the shelf and sit back in Dallas and relax. It’s family.”

There’s been speculation the Packers might release Driver. He has a salary-cap number of $5 million, which will have to be adjusted.

He’s also fallen down the depth chart a considerable distance and has young, practice-squad receivers Tori Gurley and Diondre Borel nipping at his heels for a roster spot.

Still, the Packers seem willing to bring him back for at least the 2012 season. Of course, he’ll have to beat out a couple guys to make the roster.

I love driver but we need young blood at WR. drop one of the TE’s and make let gurley/borel duke it out for a spot

Bring him back this year, get him his second Super Bowl ring then he’ll retire to join DTWS in Vegas.

Good for Driver and good for the Packers organization. I’m sure there’s not one Packer fan out there that doesn’t want this man in our locker room. Even if he has a sub-par season like last year, the man is a leader. I’d have him on my team for the next 20 years if I could.

Hell get him his second ring then hire him to coach.
He’s a natural leader and school up future generations of Packer Hall of Famers….
