Anyone holding out hope that the Green Bay Packers might bring running back Ryan Grant back for the 2012 season can officially give up hope.
The Packers, who’ve shown no interest in re-signing Grant this offseason, gave his locker away earlier this week, according to Rob Demovsky.
The #Packers have given @RyanGrant25’s locker to Diondre Borel. It still had Grant’s name on it at rookie camp.
Borel, a college quarterback the Packers converted to receiver, spent last season on the practice squad after going undrafted out of Utah State. He seemingly has a legitimate shot at making the roster this season, but we’re basing that more on his performance in training camp last season than his new locker.
Grant will end his Packers career with 4,016 yards, a 4.3 average and 25 rushing touchdowns in five seasons. We made his case for the Packers Hall of Fame on PackersHallofFame.com.
The Packers will turn to James Starks, who’s been injured on and off during his two NFL seasons, as their clear-cut No. 1 back.
