Here’s a good sign the Green Bay Packers might be looking to part ways with receiver Donald Driver.
When asked if the 37-year-old Dancing With The Stars contestant would go to training camp with the Packers, both Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy were noncommittal.
“I would never speculate on something like that. He’s dancing right now. Doing good, too,” Thompson said.
“No reason to speculate on that,” McCarthy said. “I’m just going to follow Ted’s answer to that question.”
Not exactly the ringing endorsement Driver probably wanted to hear.
Although he’s said he’ll take a salary reduction to stay in Green Bay, the Packers may simply have other plans. They have Tori Gurley and Diondre Borel on the practice squad. Gurley almost made the team last season and turned down at least one offer to join another team’s active roster in 2011.
Driver, meanwhile, had his worst career season as a starter statistically in 2011, with 37 receptions and 445 yards.
