Donald Driver

Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy, oh boy! We’ve got big news for you today!

Green Bay Packers receiver Donald Driver will appear on this season’s installment of “Dancing With The Stars.” Yeah, we’re ecstatic about this and will be sure to watch. The show begins March 19.

Joining Driver among on the show are a bunch of people we’ve never heard of, along with some we haven’t heard of since the 1980s. Here’s the list: actor Jack Wagner, Melissa Gilbert, best known for “Little House on the Prairie,” “The View” co-host Sherri Shepherd, Jaleel White, a.k.a. Steve Urkel, retired tennis player Martina Navratilova, “Extra” host Maria Menounos, Gladys Knight, opera singer Katherine Jenkins, actor Roshon Fegan, singer Gavin DeGraw and actor William Levy.

Of this group, we are excited about only one person — Maria Menounos. Why? Because after seeing her in a bikini, we’re pretty sure she’s going to look superb in whatever she wears on the show.

As for Driver, he’ll try to become the seventh athlete to win “Dancing With The Stars.” It’s unclear how or if this will affect his participation in the Packers offseason program.

Monty McMahon

Monty McMahon is one of the founders of Total Packers. He is probably the most famous graduate of UW-Oshkosh next to Jim Gantner.

Love Driver…good man (it seems) and did a lot for the G&G….but he’s becoming (dare I say it) a nr. 4 sized distraction….

Enough already; let him go dance…play Cobb in his spot…win another Lombardi and leave him with memories, records and being a legend somewhere else.

REALLY?!?!?! Doing DWS and saying you’ll take a pay cut to play with GB is the same as holding a team hostage for 6 yrs talking about retiring.

Plus dancing is as good as any preseason training for football, he will stay in great shape and have some fun.

You talk about him like he did nothing last year, he is as solid #3 as any in the NFL and vs the Giants when no other wr could catch a ball that hit their hands DD was the only one who produced. His leadership in the locker room is invaluable and to cut him would be a huge blow to the team and wr corps.

        – He did say he would take a pay cut in public yes…but his own agent hasnt been told to relay this officially to the packers (Manning/Irsay diplomacy…hello : )
        – Lined up on linebackers he produced.
        – Steady hands yes absolutely, but he isnt nr. 3 anymore and at his age he is one injury away from being retired.
        – Keeping him would be potentially be throwing away one of 2 (maybe 3) promising new WR’s…
See this excellent article for more of the same: http://jerseyal.com/GBP/2012/02/28/the-packers-should-release-donald-driver/

Driver is the perfect role model; smart, a team player, family man and Packer for life (HOF)…All im saying is this; he has been an inspiration and the pride of the pack for years…let him have his final days in tv shows sporting that giant smile, let the young ones play now and bring him back in the capability he’s best suited for…as WR coach.

      2. Jack February 29, 2012

Oh and for the record…If DD was better then Gurley, Borel and/or Shaky I would keep him too this year (even if it costed one of the young ones….) Its just I would think that the way the season ended and they way MM talks about him, it seems like the Pack doesnt think thats the case anymore (feel free to prove me wrong andd win the SB with us again DD ; )

Driver is with the team for his leadership abilities. This need to be transferred to players like Greg Jennings in the near future. Love DD for his contributions to the Pack and all he does for charity.

We do need to replace him eventually (in the next year or so), however he is still a clutch receiver and needs to be given his fair shake when competing for the job.

Haha… awesome. This is some nice offseason exposure for DD and for the Packers.

It isn’t like DD needs the offseason program.

Pretty amazing for a guy who languished on the Packers’ practice squad for years. I remember going to a Packer practice like 15 years ago and saying, “Who is this #80 guy? Donald Driver? WTF?”

I totally agree with Monty that DD and Maria will be the only thing worth watching out of this cast.

    I hope he wins.

It’s great news, however, the receiver pictured above is James Jones.
