Monty: Man, this is like the JV playing the varsity. The game should be over by halftime.
The 3-0 Green Bay Packers at home against the 1-2 Denver Buttholes. This is the NFL, though. Shit don’t work like that.
Look, the Broncos aren’t going to win. Their running game sucks donkey balls and the Packers have the best run defense in the league anyway. Their passing offense, led by The Neck Beard himself, Kyle Orton, is 22nd in the league. In other words, the Broncos offense looks a lot like a piece of toilet paper before I drop it into the bowl.
The Broncos defense, which was atrocious last season, is vastly improved this year. They rank 15th in the NFL overall, 13th against the pass and 14th against the run. They’re not awesome, but they may be able to slow the Packers offense if injured stars Elvis Dumervil and Champ Bailey can play. Both are questionable.
The Broncos aren’t going to shut the Packers offense down, though. No one has this season.
Look for tight end Jermichael Finley to have another big game and look for the Packers defense to continue to gel.
Packers 24, Broncos 10
JC: The Packers No. 1 rated run defense will stop the Broncos running game cold, forcing ex-Bears and current Broncos quarterback Kyle Orton to try to win the game through the air.
Look for the Packers pass rush to have a field day against the Broncos out-of-sync offense.
With Ryan Grant out with a bruised kidney, the Packers running game will be dependent on James Stark, who needs to rebound from a poor performance last week. The Packers passing attack, led by Aaron Rodgers and an elite group of receivers, should have a big day against a beat-up Denver Broncos defense. Veteran cornerback Champ Bailey and pass rushing defensive end Elvis Dumervil are questionable.
With a stronger special teams play and balanced offensive attack, the Packers will win going away at home.
Packers 24, Broncos 10
Eric: The Green Bay Packers try to keep their nine-game (including last season and the postseason) winning streak alive when they welcome Kyle Orton and the Denver Broncos to Lambeau Field.
Denver comes in at 1-2 and haven’t quite found their groove yet.
The Packers offense is what it is. They light it up and this Sunday it should be no different. Denver’s defense may not have defensive end Elvis Dumervil and cornerback Champ Bailey. The Packers only injury issues are the absence of Ryan Grant and Bryan Bulaga. Both have been declared out for Sunday’s game. Still, the Broncos’ defense will get run all over by The Pack.
The Broncos’ offense has had it’s share of problems this year. Last year, Orton racked up plenty of passing yards, but things are different this year. Orton hasn’t been able to get the ball to his receivers. Receiver Brandon Lloyd is frustrated he’s not getting the ball and fans want to see third-string quarterback Tim Tebow.
Starting running back Knowshon Moreno isn’t much to talk about, backup Willis McGahee has been solid. They’ll be facing a Packers defense that’s allowed only 55 rushing yards per game.
Maybe Green Bay will knock both Orton and Tebow out and so A.J. Hawk’s brother-in-law Brady Quinn can play quarterback. Who knows.
Maybe the Broncos get lucky and score two touchdowns, but I doubt it.
Packers 35, Broncos 13
We are notorious for playing shitty against shitty teams, which is the only hesitation I have. The good news is I don’t think the ponies could score against me, my 80 year old father, and my english mastiff, Daphne.
As long as we don’t give them ridiculous field position, this should be in the bag.
Packers 38, Broncos 16
