The Green Bay Packers are lopping off the dead weight.
Actually, that’s no way to talk about right tackle [intlink id=”224″ type=”category”]Mark Tauscher[/intlink], who’s been a stalwart for the team for most of 11 seasons, but the Packers made a move that was expected and released the veteran.
Tauscher was scheduled to make more than $4 million this season, which is a hefty price to pay for an insurance policy.
The only question is why the Packers waited until the first day of training camp to make the move.
Tauscher will go into the Packers Hall of Fame one day, but he was only able to play four games last season after rescuing the team from the [intlink id=”95″ type=”category”]Allen Barbre[/intlink] experiment a year before.
Rookie [intlink id=”925″ type=”category”]Bryan Bulaga[/intlink] settled in at right tackle after Tauscher’s injury and solidified the position in 2010.
Despite his long track record of solid play, Tauscher’s age caught up with him last season. Had he been on the roster this season, he would have been nothing more than the right tackle’s potential injury replacement.

I suggest the name Allen Barber be never mentioned again.
so is green bay going to resign anyone? I dont mine the releases so far, but I read these releases have given he pack 19 million in cap room. This seems enough to at least sign jones back. If driver goes down and nelson cant start, they are in trouble fast. Plus, jenkins is still valuable even with the injuries.
Tauscher will be brought back if there is an injury to any other Packer o-linemen….jus watch and see…cutting him is the same as having him ride the pine (except we dont have to pay him)
Wish you all the best in retirement Tauscher you were one hell of a right tackle!
