Sporting News Already Has Packers Repeating

Mike McCarthy and Ted Thompson
Wash, rinse, repeat.

It’s time for Super Bowl predictions!

That’s right. It’s June and we don’t even have a labor deal yet, but the Super Bowl predictions have begun.

The Sporting News likes the Green Bay Packers to repeat, beating the New England Patriots in the big one.

Championship teams are often broken up by defections among the players and coaching staff. Not these Packers. The nucleus remains intact, led by quarterback Aaron Rodgers, linebacker Clay Matthews, cornerback Charles Woodson, safety Nick Collins, left tackle Chad Clifton, nose tackle B.J. Raji and cornerback Tramon Williams. Coach Mike McCarthy is a brilliant play-caller, and his simpatico with Rodgers grows stronger every year. Dom Capers is one of the game’s top defensive coordinators.

It’s hard to repeat, but it’s easier when you’re as good as the Packers. Rodgers and company will be too much for the Patriots.

So there you go.

No need to even play the season. Just send the trophy right back here.
